Was the CDTV remote the first wireless game controller?

I see from pictures that the CD TV remote has a d pad and two joystick buttons. Was it effectively the first wireless controller, before Nintendo's wavebird?

No. There are infra-red remote controlled games dating back to the invention of infra-red remote controls in the 1970's

CX-42 for Atari 2600 (which isnt infra red) is dated April 1st, 1983

Saw a documentary about Atari a while ago. There was an Atari 2700 prototype built in '81 I think, that used wireless controllers.. It never made it to actual production, but there was this kid who got one for Xmas from some Atari employee who was hitting on the kids mom and wanted to impress the kid with this (as it turned out, very rare prototype) ;-)
