Video settings backup, how?

I have a video card in my Amiga, with all the video modes nicely finetuned and centered. I would like to try another card, but I don't want to lose all the current settings. Which files should I save, in order to be able to restore them if I'm not satisfied with the new card?

I'd suggest backup your whole boot partition in case installing new settings messes anything up.

However if its just another card that supports P96 then it really is just a simple case of fitting the new Card, copy the monitor driver to Devs:Monitors and attaching the new card in Picasso96Mode, it would use the same settings as the last card did.

Steve.

You can also create new settings for another card and save them into the same settings file. Then you have to choose which settings your recent card is to use; I have had PicassoII, Cv64/3D and PicassoIV settings in the same settings file. It makes a whole bunch of screenmodes to choose from ... (you may call it a mess, it really is;-) )

I investigated one of my old backups

A4000DT_BU_201205 (Amiga Desktop Tower Back Up 20th of December 2005)

and determined you need two files from SYS:devs/

Picasso96Settings
Picasso96Settings.info

and for good measure all the files in this directory

SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Picasso96/
