Paul's Amiga

Hi guys,

Paul's parents have offered me Paul's Amiga 600 and all his other amiga bits, Unfortunately I cannot travel to pick it up as it is about 300 miles from me. (The A600 is located near cornwall).

The Amiga is free but is pick-up only. If any EAB member (Regular who knew Paul) would like this Amiga please PM me and i'll see what can be arranged

Regards

I agree.

I hope someone who will take good care of our friend's amiga is going to get it.

Just a thought on this one, if whomever picks up his gear could say auction it off and use the proceeds to give to a charity/organization that is looking for or researching a cure for what took Pauls' life, I would say that make a more menaingful statement then just free

Just a thougth anyways...

That is a very good idea jmmijo.

I'm almost certain many other EABers will agree with this too.

Well the first objective is to find somewhere/someone willing to collect this.

Please note that Paul's family do not live in Cornwall though, they live in St. Ives in Cambridgeshire

I'm about a 90mins away from St Ives. I would go and collect it if it really came down to it and no one else was nearer (or wanted to).

But of course it still needs be to decided what will happen to it. Should it be auctioned? Should an HDF be made of the drive? If so, who should have it - it probably shouldn't be public... Hmm..

Personally I don't think it should be sold to some random stranger...

I think that it should either be used or purchased by an EAB member if anybody wants it. Of course if it is sold then the money goes straight to Paul's family

Of course this is just my opinion though...

Absolutely not. Paul may have had personal/private data on there. When friends sell off computer equipment i always give their machines a very good 'cleaning' and maybe Paul's family could be guided on how to do the same also if they feel the same.

Just my 2 cents.

I think it would be nice to be dontate for under privalged kids, or with special caring needs or medical / leaning difficulties, perhaps at a hospital, is there not a club or something like that in pauls area. Other than here, did he not have any personal friends that shared his love for Amiga?

its difficult, and to be honnest I think it should go to someone whom hasn`t an amiga so that others can find the joy of it

(Double D Damien is excluded in this offer lol)

if price / collectino / travel is a problem.

let me direct you to www.parcel2ship.co.uk I have used this service and i will say its fantastic!!!!!!

£10.99 for 30KG next day pickup and delivery.... clearly awsome!

If I get it i'll donate one of my a500's, and some games or something

Hey guys, I received Pauls a600 this morning.

I got the following:
  • a600HD (+expansion card, looks like ram only) - There is apparently a fault with the HD "sticking". I've not tried powering this up just yet
  • Power Computing external disk drive
  • Commodore 1084S monitor
  • Dot Matrix Printer
  • 1 Joystick (not looked at it yet)
  • 1 Sega joypad
  • 2 Disk boxes full of Coverdisks (approx 200). I will go through and image anything missing or rare
  • 1 Disk box full of original games (approx 100). Nothing un SPS'd I don't think
  • 3 Disk boxes full of assorted stuff (copies, backups etc)
  • 2 Carrier bags full of manuals etc (Not checked through yet

I've started to clean the a600 up as it had been in storage since the HD died a couple yrs ago, and is very dusty. Otherwise everything has been looked after very well (What do you expect from Paul )

I've not yet decided what I'm going to do with it (I'll keep the 600 as I didn't have one), Naturally if I can get the HD working I'll seek permission to post any pictures, music or anything else Paul may have created from his parents. Anything "personal" I'll give details to his parents (in case they want it) and then delete it.

Paul's parents wanted me to have this as I'd look after it, and get some enjoyment out of it (Naturally :P) but anything I can share or offer the community I obviously will

Give the Hard drive a bit of a hit on the top if it doesn't spin up right, that usually does the trick unless the head's crashed and is jamming it..

You should take a pic of all the stuff together, preserve it's memory... or something like that
