CD32: NTSC power supply on a PAL console

Hey there,

does anyone know if it is safe to use the power supply of an NTSC CD32 with a PAL CD32? My PAL power supply died yesterday

Thanks a bunch in advance,

Liam

An NTSC CD32 comes with a 110v PSU - do not use this in the UK. We stock 240V PSUs for the CD32.

I do have a suitable voltage converter for the NTSC power supply. Will it still not work?

@Liam

you need a Power and Phase inverter, from 220v 50-60HZ to 110v, this will lump out a lot of heat by the way. check the phase (in hertz Hz) on the American PSU.

I would recommend getting a new UK 220v from AmigaKit or even eBay if you are lucky, although the latter, you not sure how long its gonna work for and doesn't come with a guarantee where the one from AmigaKit does i believe

Z, my friend, 60 or 50Hz doesn't matter in switched PSUs!

Only step transformers (those without any electronic components, just copper and iron) are affected by frequency.
