recently i tryed loading this up in prep card but it says that the card is write protected.

can any 1 tell me why this aint loading up.

it comes up as DEVICE: UNKNOWN, FORMAT: UNKNOWN: BATTERY N/A, INFORMATION N/A

i tryed taking the card out and putting another 1 in so it does read, so there nuffin wrong with the PCMCIA SLOT. duno what the prob can be

ive tried the card on my amiga 600 and seems all well and working in that, duno what the problem can be. any 1 have any ideas

Try reinstalling the drivers, one may get corrupted.

Hi all!

Sorry to realive this thread but it fits my similar problem: I have a A600 that works well and looks well (no leaking caps) but for its PCMCIA port

When I plug a PCMCIA adapter with a CF card, which works fine on my A1200, PrepCard detects it as a "I/O device 700ns" but anything else fails with a "cannot write changes"...

Any idea?

Cheers!

You're not supposed to be able to do anything to it with prepcard, but perhaps view its model number and such.

You need the fat95 package and the cfd package from aminet.

Hey Jope! Thanks for your reply but why would I need fat95 and cfd? On my A1200, I just plugged the CF card and formatted it... or am I missing something?

Did you perhaps use a workbench distribution, that has the driver+handler already installed for you in the A1200?

Hi Jope!

Yes, this is well possible, it has been such a long time that I installed my A1200
So, I installed FAT95 and CFD on my A600 and (after switching off, removing the CF adapted + CF card, and restarting), when I insert the combo, I see the HD led switch on for a brief time but CF0: is still considered by the Workbench as having no disk present...

I must be missing something or could the hardware be "partly" faulty?

Best!

PS. Scout shows both CF0: and CC0: has "empty", the former with one cylinder and the latter with 5...

If Prepcard can obtain legible ID strings from the card, then it shouldn't be a hardware issue. Is the CF card you are trying to use in the PCMCIA adapter fat32 formatted and readable in Windows?

Currently, PrepCard can only say that it is a 700 ms card, all the other information is missing...

Hey all!
Will let you know when I solve my problem: I must reinstall CD0 and FAT95 first...
Best!
