Zorro III fast ram not recognized

I run FS-UAE on a Mac Pro 3,1 with 32 GB RAM and OS X 10.10.5 installed.

In the 2.4.1 version of FS-UAE Zorro III fast RAM assignment worked fine.

Now I've tried both 2.6.1 and the 2.7.12dev versions with similar configurations, and I cannot get more than the 8 MB of Zorro II RAM in the emulation. The Zorro III setting is simply ignored. I've tried many permutations of RAM assignment but to no avail.

Below is my configuration.

Anybody who can help?
BR, Christian

Could be a problem allocating enough virtual memory, (or possibly a kickstart problem?).

Please attach fs-uae.log.txt!

You should not add fast_memory + zorro_iii + motherboard_ram + chip

Kickstart 3.5?!

Try 3.1

Thank you for your reply, and for this great program.

I have attached the log file.
Also I have tried with Kick3.1, no difference.
And, as noted before, Zorro III RAM works with FS-UAE 2.4.1.

Thanks,
Christian

Thanks. I tried with 3.1, same problem. Also, I tried using only chip RAM and Zorro III RAM. This results in 0 Bytes Fast RAM and 2 MB chip RAM (inside the Amiga).

Try only 2MB CHIP and 64MB Zorro III with KS3.1. (From what I know, 3.5 was never officially released) with new configuration and only WB disk. Check if you get all RAM once loaded.

Thanks for the tip. Tried it, I got 2 MB of chip RAM and 0 B of fast Ram.

While testing I have removed startup-sequence just to make certain no software can interfere. I then type "avail" at the CLI which gives me the numbers.

The 3.1 kickstart you tested with was for A500/600/2000. You should really use an A4000 v3.1 kickstart! If it still fails with a matching kickstart, I'll take a closer look at the log.

This did it! All the time I thought I was using the kick from my own A4000, I wasn't. Now I pulled it using GrabKick (yes, my A4000 060/PPC still works ), and now Z3 RAM is working perfectly.

Thank you!

THIS FIXED MY PROBLEM TOO

Wow - I've had this same problem for ages with the latest FS-UAE, meaning that I was forced into using an old emulator version for a couple of years. Today I stumbled on this thread and it fixed it for me. Hurray!

I was using the wrong 3.1 kickstart ROMs all along. I replaced with a genuine A4000 rom image and now my Z3 ram is back on FS UAE.

Thank you EAB
