Leander

Another game I'm having issues with is Leander.

Basically the game loads through all intro screens, then gets to the "Extra Memory Detected And Used" screen, I press fire, Disk 1 loads for a little, flicks back to track 01 and doesn't go any further...

Tried all A500 Quickstarts and a few other things but can't manage to fix this

Just as a test I tried on my Windows XP / WinUAE v1.0.0 laptop; same configuration / same IPFs and this works fine. Any ideas guys?

Tested in v3.0.0 and also v3.1.0 but same problem

I done a quick test using IPFs, the game works fine her using A500 1mb config

Well that's very weird as I tried all A500 Quickstarts + my original config that works in v1.0.0...

Can you upload your configuration Sandro and I'll try tomorrow afternoon?

Bed now; enough testing for one day

but plz note this is a simple A500 config, I'm using it in winuae 2.80

yet for best compatibility with games always use winuae 2.01
if same game not works in 2.01 then it doesn't work in any other winuae version

Huh? It works fine with A500 quickstart with best compatibility, there is no need to attach special configs or use obsolete versions.

It does not work with OPs config because it really needs full A500 config, "Generic" does not enable all required floppy features that this game's copy protection check routine requires. EDIT: I think I may be able to work around this too..

Tested by adding "Chipset Extra: A500" to my config and it's now working.

...but still very weird that when I selected / set various A500 Quickstarts last night it failed for me.

I will report this

I just tested Leander on A1200 config and using chipset A1200 and not worked
but using idem A1200 config but changing to chipset A500: Leander works perfect

it seems there is a bug in "A1200 chipset" and "generic chipset"
maybe is the floppy features you said are not enabled

It's an OCS game. Use proper quickstarts, all the time. Don't mix this stuff.

And more correct question is: does this exact same version of Leander work on real A1200?

the cracked floppy version works fine on my A1200
the original version which we have been testing: I don't know I haven't the original game sorry but I sense it must work

Leander doesn t work on A1200. The copy protection fails, it only runs on A500.

do you remember testing this original game disabling cpu caches or using relokick?

This might work. But it's not useful for making proper WinUAE configurations for custom created game databases.
