Amiga User Groups - Melbourne, Australia
Just thought I would give some general info about the two user groups in Melbourne in case anyone in the area was interested in attending.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAUG Melbourne Amiga User Group meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Kellaway community centre hall, Kellaway avenue Moonee Ponds. Meetings start at 8:30pm and usually finish at 11pm, people stay later unless the cleaner kicks us out. Attendance varies from 7 to 20 people depending. Things you can expect to see are classic amigas, PPC amigas both classic and A1 running OS4 and anything you want to bring along. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/MAUG/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- AUG Amiga Users Group (Melbourne, Victoria) meets on the third Sunday of every month at the Wadham House Craft and Hobby Centre, 52 Wadham Parade, Mount Waverley from 2pm to about 6pm. I have only been to one of their meetings but am now a paid up member so will probably be attending in future if I have the time on Sundays. There were fewer people there than the MAUG meetings but there were A1s with OS4, classic amigas and PCs running emulation. There were around 6 or 7 there people last month. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/grou...ers_Group_Vic/ http://www.aug.org.au/index.html |

Do they wish to see it back again ?, I think they were a bit disappointed with it from the impression i got. Unless it was because i didnt have any speakers with me for the sound. |

Most of the guys have PPC classics and A1s so I sometimes think my oldschool stuff doesn't interest them much but a few of the guys appreciate there being hardware there to look at, talk about and play around with regardless. |

My boyfriend and I (both big Amiga enthusiasts) are about an hour or so South of Brisbane. Maybe if we found a few others, a Brisbane or Gold Coast club or something might be viable. Actually, if people were willing to travel down to the bottom of the Gold Coast, we have access to a good ex-Scouts hall that would be perfect for a club or convention, it's got male and female toilets and shower, a big kitchen, a main hall and a good size park area outside with BBQs. I'm pretty sure it's only $50 per day to rent the place too, so that wouldn't be too hard to cover.
By the way, for any Australians who don't already know about it, we've got a group on EAB called "Australian Amiga Users" here - http://eab.abime.net/group.php?groupid=4 I guess it's just a way of keeping count of how many of us are on here, but I think it's worth joining. |

My 1200 was in bits so I couldn't make it but I'll try and come to the next one for some 2-payer AGA antics on a CRT |

I made it to Thursday's MAUG meeting and took a 1200 with indivision, a 19" widescreen LCD and some decent speakers along, even had two joysticks just in case.

I have only been to one AUG meeting but planning to go to more, missed the last one though. A bit claustrophobic compared to the wide open spaces at MAUG meetings. Sundays are usually a chill out day and a chance to do things around the house etc so the Thursday meetings suit me better even though they run late. |
