Swos Hardware Problem?

Hello everyone,

i own an Amiga 500 6A 512+512 Kickstart 1.3 Sharp 315093-02 Fat Agnus 8372A Denise 8362R8

I tried via pc to amiga floppy drive almost every adf version of swos 95/96 and 96/97 and either it doesn't loads the first disk or it freezes at the second.

My conclusion is that the problem is not on the adfs...

Any suggestions of what is wrong with the machine? Thank you.

have you tried other games? Cannon Fodder, Sensible Soccer, Megalomania?

Sensible soccer is my problem.
No, do you want me to try cannon fodder 1 or 2?

yes. Cannon Fodder 2 has a similar disk loader.

I can't even load it to WinUAE.. no need to try it on my amiga

On WinUAE it loads only with 1MB of chip ram..
Do you think this is my problem?
swos on WinUAE plays with 512+512

Weird; works fine here in WinUAE using an "A500 - 1.3 ROM, OCS or ECS Agnus, 512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM" configuration and these .ADFs:

... Cannon Fodder 2 (1994)(Virgin)[cr PDX](Disk 1 of 3)[t +11 ATX].adf
... Cannon Fodder 2 (1994)(Virgin)[cr PDX](Disk 2 of 3).adf

Is it a sensible software?????

Do you have 2 disk drives? Maybe your 2nd drive is slightly faulty.

You could try just using one drive.

No i have only one internal drive.
How can i be sure that it is not faulty?

No experts today or there are for complicated problems..
I think i am the only one who use Amiga 500 with floppies..
I know that there's no way to load swos but... just trying..

I'm sure someone with a real A500 like yourself will test on their computer when they get the chance. Just be patient, the thread has only been up for a few hours.

So, the new problem is that besides swos, i cannot load cannon fodder 2 aka sensible softwares games.. i have a non-sensible floppy drive

The funny thing is that there is an adf called "unsensible soccer 1.1" and guess what?!!!! it is not working too

This problem you are having running games by Sensible Software quite frankly almost completely mystifies me.

But looking at your machines hardware specifications one thing comes to mind as possibly causing your problems. And that is a fair portion (but not all) of your A500's hardware is ECS, but Kictstart 1.3 is really for OCS Amigas.

Maybe the game code is checking some of the Amiga 500's HW, identifying the machine as ECS, and then failing when it tries to make use of some feature of ECS/KS2.0 which is not present in your system.

So, how swos can be loaded in WinUAE with ECS and Kickstart1.3
If i try your suggestion, what is cheaper? to buy KS2.0 or OCS?

My workbench shows 882***
Before the WB load i press Ctrl+d AVAIL and it shows over 1MB maximum

The only different thing from my original memory expansion is that it used to work with a 3,6V green barrel battery and now it works with a 3V CR2032 battery..
