HDD dosent boot on A2000 with Buddha

I have an old HDD ( 240 MB ) with OS.3.0 installed on it. I used it on my a1200 before I upgraded to a CF-card So now I have this A-2000 with the buddha card installed and I connected this HDD. It spins up but nothing happens ( I have 3.0 ROMS ) . It will not show up in HD-Tools either. So then I tried it in the A-1200 where it was originally used , but same result. Now I thought the HDD was broken or something happened to the boot-partition so I connected it to the PC and fired up WinUAE to see if I could reinstall OS.3.0 on it. But the disk turned out to be OK, loading up perfectly fine with all the programs etc.
Why is it working fine in WinUAE and not on the A2000 or even the A1200 which was its original home ?

A1200 + KS 3.0 and drive that cold starts too slowly? Try keyboard reseting Amiga few times to see if drive starts working. Listen also if drive restarts cold start sequence (some clicks etc..) after keyboard reset. If it does, you probably originally had IDE cable that had cut/disconnected reset line (line 1, usually marked with red color).

Thanx for youe response :-) Yes , I used the original cable with the red marking, (its a 3,5" to 2,5" cable ), one of the line was broken and is now fixed so the drive worked fine with the A-1200 :-) . Still problem with the A-2000 and the Buddha though. I use a 3,5" standard IDE cable which I took from my PC and connected it to Buddha card and the drive. Could it be the cable Im using that is the problem ? Is there difference with standard IDE cable and IDE cable in use for Amiga ?

If your cable is not that important, try cutting line that has red marker and then try keyboard reset if drive still is not detected after power on.

Hmmm I cut the red marker on the IDE cable , but when I keyboard reset I get a Guru Meditation , I might have been unlucky when cutting and hurt another line maybe but I dont think so. The card dosent show up in start-up anymore when the HDD is connected , but it shows up when not connected.

What do you mean card is not visible when HDD is connected? How are you actually connecting them? Note that CF cards rarely work with another CF or HDD if you meant HDD as a master or slave with CF in same cable?

When only the card is in the slot with nothing attached it shows up in early startup as working . When I connect HDD to it its not showing up anymore, neither is ofcourse the HDD itself. I have no CF-card or anything else connected. I cut the red line as mentioned above and now I get a Guru Meditation , the cable itself can have a slave to it but only the HDD is connected at the end

PS. Sorry , but with card I mean the Buddha Card :-)

I examined the cable a little closer and I might have touched the line next to the red one as well ( difficult to see so Im not sure) . I will get me another one and be more careful, I think you are on to something here , if the drive works in the other setups and the Buddha shows in early startup as working then logically there is a big chance that it is something with the cable to do. I wil get another cable and try again.
Thanks for your effort , appreciate it :-) I post here if I get it to work :-)

Friendly hint: just detach the red-marked wire using your fingernails and only THEN cut it

It's pretty easy to do (the wires have a thinner space between them, apply some force there with your nail and pull the wire to the outside)
