which new amiga do you want ???

what do you want in the new amiga, what look do you want for the new amiga, try to be optimist just dream a little bit .try to define the best possible amiga for a comeback even if you don't believe it's possible.
I know it's hard to be positive but give it a try, forget the battle amiga.inc vs hyperion for a moment.

something like that... an A4000 big as a pc keyboard.

I'd like a brand new shiny evolution of the Amiga - all new more powerful versions of the custom chips & associated DMA architecture, fast processor, support for modern hardware and for backwards compatibility, plug-in Clone-A type boards that have the old chipsets on them so that the new Amiga can be mode switched into a real classic Amiga.

Yes!

The new Amiga should have something like a A1200 case.
It could be innovative these days and it´s the old style as well.

It should work with standard gfx cards, ram, USB and so on.

It has to be a console and a powerful computer.
A "all in one" machine with limited expansion possibilities.

But it has to be cheap; bundled with AmigaOS, *new* games/apps and 500 WHDload retro games!

So why not go along the lines of what the Mac has done?

Make it run natively under intel/amd and then have "classic" mode to run all the old software. Overhaul the OS/GUI, bring back the decent apps and creativity that made Amiga in the first place.

Well....I can dream!!

I want an Amiga
has x86 dual core under the cpu-hood (intel QX68000 - irony eh?) or AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+
2 GB of RAM
6.1 (or better) Sound
256 - 512MB Built in onboard Graphics
ATI onboard - XTX 1950 XT / Pro
  • HDMI
  • DVI / SVGA
  • Composite / SVHS
250GB Sata II or SCSI Harddisk (Multi-bootable)
  • AmigaOS
  • Linux
  • QNX
  • Wondoze
  • DVDRW
3.5" Foppy Drive & Smart Media Center : Supports
  • 1.44mb / 720kb PC
  • 1.67mb/ 880kb Amiga
Memory Reader
  • MMC
  • SD
  • DUO
  • CF
  • USB 2.0
USB 2.0 & 1.1 compatible
  • 2 rear root hub(s)
  • 2 side root hub(s)
------ Legacy support

060 & 68000 companion CPU's
Chipsets on a plugin miniPCI card (sold as extra)
Advanced MOS (mouse Operated System) Legacy setup
  • CPU & Frequency
  • cach enables
  • (other CPU features)
  • Timming support (for things with the memory)
Other Ports
  • Parallel
  • Wide Serial
  • PS2 (Mouse)
  • 1394 Firewire
  • Wireless 54mbit LAN

and now it has to look like this!

pic 1 - primary distro model

pic 2 - primary distro model

The secondary distro model would be look similar to a snazzy DVD player, with wifi-bluetooth keyboard / mouse action or even a wand that slides onto a keyboard... neato...

Clearly a Winner!

@ Zetr0:

Yes, that suits me fine.
But why not implement a powerful emulator instead of this PCI card?
I think of expenses reduction.

@viddi

heys my friend.,.... the reason i went for the board is so that you can add 'other' hard emulator cards or other cards in general as well as better emulation

As for hardware specs.....

a Lisa heavily updated.... actually, scrap that.

GeForce8 with Lisa integrated, when going below 8bit colours, it switches from Chunky to oldschool Planar type display.

Soundblaster Live! with integrated Paula, the Paula module upgraded to handle 2.88 MB floppies at normal speed.

CPU would be dual AMD Athlon64 x2

the Kickstart should also include a hardware 680x0MC (full w/ MMUwhere applicable) emulation module, to run the oldschool crap we have with even less problems.

Blitter and Copper and such upgraded as neccessary to keep up with the speeds of the Lisa Geforce

1GB Chipmem, upgradeable to 4, and 1GB fastmem upgradeable to 16 (8GB for each CPU)

So.. down to less important junk:

DMA133 IDE, for upto 4 devices.
S-ATA
10/100/1000MB Lancard. (anyone who claims wireless is a goodiea is a liar :P)
6*USB 2.0 compliant ports. (New Amiga Mouse and Keyboard and joysticks are hereby going USB)

Parallell and serial ports, both your normal SVGA and the not-so-normal 23pin Video ports.
5PCI slots.

DVD burner, dual layer +/- RW
250GB HD

Bundled software:
VMWare Workstation
WoW+Burning Crusade
Cinema3D
Photoshop
Opera or Firefox web-browser
CygnusEd

That's all I can think of for now....

For a low price they can sell os4.0 with an update firmware for the best motherboards with an amiga tower in option.

Price estimate...... with 2 AMD Athlon64 x2's..... expensive as he|_|_

Would probably be hardpressed to get this baby under £1500

And Zetro... Guildwars is for losers, WoW is "For the Horde"

I would really like to see the AGA chipset integrated into the other chips I've mentioned.... because of backwards compatability. Games or application calling the AGA routines, would automatically trigger he 68k emulation and you wouldn't know the difference. Apart from SysInfo reporting a 6GHz 68060
