Looking for mod.bright or bright.mod

There's a .mod file that I'm looking for. It's called "mod.bright" or "bright.mod". Here's a description of the file: Bright.mod lasts for nearly 4 minutes and the file size might be between 60kb & 70kb. This was downloaded from the GEnie BBS in late 1992. I've spent so many years looking for this, and I still can't find it. I have an MP3 copy of this song from a tape that I still have. I'll include a link to it with this message. I was given permission from Stone Oakvalley Studios to use the following link: http://fonix.dyndns.org:40000/soamc/...ht_modfile.mp3

Can you be 100% sure it only had the word 'bright' in the name?

EDIT: Try these two places, search criteria using 'bright'
http://modarchive.org/index.php?requ...e_or_songtitle
http://amp.dascene.net/newresult.php

Presumably you've already tried seeing you have already tried SOAMC

I've checked lots of sites not just for this mod file, but for a bunch of mod files that my cousin put on a few tapes from his computer. I was able to find all of the other mod files, except for this one. This is the final song I'm looking for from what I have on tape.

Here are some examples of misnamed mod files:

GEnie BBS File Listing Different File Listing
venture.mod ventures in the air.mod
starwars.mod star wars remix.mod
hunter.mod modsofthunter.mod
gauntlet.mod runthegauntlet.mod
c&c factory.mod tjdemo1.mod
christmasi.mod dc_xmas.mod or dc-xmas.mod
christmasii.mod grapevine-7_main.mod (from Mods Anthology)

That gives you an idea of this kind of confusion I'm dealing with. So, bright.mod might be under another name. I wish I had a list of all the mod files from GEnie BBS so I can track it down (file size usually helps).

Another approach I did was to check the tape sample (wav) that Sam sent me. I noticed probably 7 samples (typicall st-01 and st-02 samples, so a early module in probably a mod15 format too, Ultimate Soundtracker).

In our SOAMC= database we have stored the amount of samples:xx within each mod. file. The search function for that is not ready yet, so I did a offline filter.

But I think Sam might have tested the several hundred of files I found with 7 samples....so no go.

It does sound like a World of Wonders or 88-89 style tune

BTW: Our server had a minor breakdown, file should be back now.

Here is also the actual mod file that Sam recorded to tape.

http://fonix.dyndns.org:40000/soamc/...4.100_khz].wav

It included the binary information so you can hear the pattern and note data too! Anybody talk fluid binary dialect on this forum?

Too bad we don't have a C64TAP PRG type of software....
We could just reverse the recording back to a binary.....

Another update:

I checked the song time length at http://bitworld.bitfellas.org, I couldn't find the song there.

sounds like "my first mod" uploaded on the nearest BBS ..
Very unlikely it ever went into a demo, but then, there _are_ quite weird musics in some, so , can't be sure .

Is there a website that has old lists of files that were uploaded to GEnie BBS (before 1993)? I'm looking right now.

No luck yet with the GEnie BBS file list search.

StoneOakvalley, would the site http://modp3.mikendezign.com/ be of any help?

Hi Stone Oakvalley,

I was thinking about that there's no program for reading the binary data. I'm going to ask if anybody has or is willing to make a program to help us out. I was also wondering if DemonHellraiser checked his music collection to see if he had the song.

Hmm... how come you have the binary data on tape? When and why did it get transferred to tape?

Hi bLAZER,

How I ended up with the binary data of the song on tape is a long story. My cousin was messing around on his Amiga by playing some .mod files with a sample player in Directory Opus. He had a .mod & .med music player called EdPlayer (it had a great icon and cd player-type of layout). At the end of 1992, he gave me a tape of some .mod files that he downloaded from a BBS (I still have it). On Christmas 1992, I put 7 more .mod files on a different tape (the one that has bright.mod). My cousin had his radio hooked up to his computer to put the music on tape.

Hi DemonHellraiser,

It's alright that I haven't heard back. I'm wondering if any of the internet radio channels (irc) would want a copy of the song. The only problem might be that the person who made it might hear it and get us in trouble for not getting permission from that person to play in on an irc. And that's the thing, I don't know who made it.

Hi all,

Our server had some updates the recent months and the links mentioned were all dead now. I re-uploaded everything to this new links:

http://www.stone-oakvalley-studios.com/bright

The hunt and tracking for this module didn't have any success by scanning the original HD image either...so the hunt is still on.
