requirements to running a500 emulator and overheads ?

UAE has been around a while, I remember seeing it way back when it was still new my friend told me it was known as the Unusable Amiga Emulator, but I remember at some point this thing got very usable even back on windows 98 but I couldn't quite remember what hardware I was running back then so I googled to see what I could find.

a few posts claiming of full speed "50fps" amiga emulation on things like pentium 3s, even a p2 450mhz with a fraction of ram computers have today.

figure If hardware from almost 20 years ago can emulate an a500 then my linux based Celeron 2955u 2-core budget 1.4hgz laptop with its 2gb of ram that just about handles skyrim should be able to? right?nope!

heres where I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, it plays fine for 3 seconds then chugs hard for like 10 then plays fine again for 3 and repeats...

tldr
doing something wrong? only trying to emulate a standard a500, are there more overheads to emulation now? what is the bare minimum required to emulate a 7mhz a500?

Thanks
