500 Quantity of NOS A1200's
Didn't know where to put this so it's here, please move if need be.
Has anyone contacted Petro T. Tyschtschenko or have any further info about the supposedly NOS A1200's that have been found? The Amiga.org forum is a bit sparse on info. Ie. Is it actually true that these have been found? Where can we purchase one from? Info on EAB seems even more sparse but surely this is massive news? Last edited by seuden; 13 July 2012 at 14:16. |

I heard something about this on AmiBay, however I found the discussed price point wasn't reflective of electrical goods that had been sitting for over 15 years.
Because of this I would sooner buy one from amigakit.co.uk or vesalia.de |

Could you imagine the state that some of those are going to be in.... with capacitors on the motherboard and the power-supply that have not been power-cycled in over 15 years!
Personally buying one that was NOS, would be asking for trouble if not shortly after having it. |

Not worried about the power supply and we can only assume about the capacitors can't we? Or is it inevitable that they're going to be damaged?

I guess it should be okay as long as it's been stored in a good warehouse with okay temperature and humidity.

personally (for me) it wouldn't be worth the risk,
As far as manufactures go all recommend that SMT wet-ware electrolytic capacitors should be power cycled once every 3 years, or the electrolyte will begin to degrade the aluminium foil. As I said I would rather have a known working / reworked unit from Amigakit - as they take all the - guess, assumptions and could be - out of the equation. |

Well, I would expect a one year warranty if I bought it from a dealer.

Sounds like an urban myth or something How could someone not miss a 150 Amigas sitting there in a warehouse for over 20 years!!
Sounds like something out of an Indiana Jones movie |

Were they sold to his Facebook friends or something? I'd love to have an AT A1200 for the novelty factor (plus they stay white, yeah?)

Petro posted a picture of the A1200 magic pack on FB on june 12th. He said he would get 500 units soon...
I got this reaction (june 15th) from him when I asked him about it. "Sofar I do not have any A 1200 Magic Pack received. As soon as I will receive the A 1200 Magic Pack I will write a procedure how to order and how to pay.. Please be patient.. Thank you soo much Best regards Petro" In other messages he said we should wait for at least 8 weeks... so maybe we'll get some news soon. He also said he has some A4000T's in his warehouse... |

Why? Phase 5/DCE made CSPPC, not Amiga Inc/Tech.

Yes but the point was they'd still go sweet with A4000T's

Sounds like Petro is about to cash in a chunk of his retirement plan.
I hope he comes through with the goods and doesn't become yet another amigan full of empty promises. |
