You mean a working crack? I don't think so. Maybe somebody here is willing to do this job.

Hi,

why are the extended adfs 4MB each in size (instead of 2MB or so)?
Were the original floppies High Density?

(sorry for the double post)

@mai
thanks for the info!
can you upload it in the zone?
I haven't any sources where i can download latest tosec entries =(

@supamax
I suppose these 4MB ADFs are NOT standard. But their purpose is to be used only with emulators such as UAE.
Instead, the 880k(DD)-ADFs and 1760K(HD)-ADFs are standard and can be used with both the UAE and a real Amiga (1760K-ADF obviously require an Amiga with HD Floppy drive)

You can download "Overdrive" from EAB Fileserver, go to TOSEC folder and look for.
This is the version cracked by "Mok", but i have no clue, if this one is a good crack.

This game uses very long tracks, hence the 4mb in size.

It isn't, has the same problems that CFOU! had to fix for his WHDLoad patch. I spoke to Mok a while ago and here's what he said:

One of the worst memories of mine is cracking the junk called overdrive from infacto. After spending literally days cracking it, I found out the game is buggy and crashes, phoned the supplier in the states, gave him action replay cheat codes and he played the game is shop to discover it crashes too... that was a nightmare. We released it under some fake crap group label just like that, I didnt even bother checking if I removed all the checks correctly at that point.

There is no way to fit 2x more data in standard DD disk..

EDIT: I checked the image and all tracks have 2 revolutions worth of data. This is also unsupported use of extended adf, may not be working in future (it looks like HD disk image..)

EDIT2: I can add "official" extended adf multirevolution track support (read-only) if someone needs it for simple weak bits simulation..

Yes, I know that .
I was asking why the extended ADFs are 4MB in size instead of the "usual" 2MB (circa) size.
I was not referring to normal 880KB ADFs, of course.

I indeed noticed that those ADFs, when RARred, have a 2MB size; if the 4MB files contain redundance, is there a way to obtain a normal, single-revolution extended adf from them?

By the way, Toni, were they obtained using RAWREAD? I know it very well and used it a lot, but I didn't know it supported "multirevolution"... (which parameters are needed from the CLI?)
I suppose it's a non-official feature...

Yes PLEASE!!

EDIT: do you mean adding it in WinUAE or RAWREAD?

WinUAE (if someone wants to create dumping program that creates multirevolution tracks. I guess uaeunp could be updated to convert from other image types..)

I am not interested in rawread anymore.

My dump of Killing game Show in extended ADF thanks to Toni Last modification of RAWREAD is WAY beyond the 2 megabytes in size.

The tracks can be long, but the protections in some cases to be imaged correctly with their structures will make HUGE extended ADF.

It happens to for other computers ex: Amstrad CPC, monty python flying circus disk image is 501kb in size when the regular size is 195-215kb. This is due to the protection structure on disk.

No. Rawread simply fails to work correctly if image is much larger than 2M. (It still can work)

Extended ADF is simple raw format, there is no "protection data" (like density). Any proper (non-HD) extended adf file can't be much larger.

Then I don't understand...

How did CFOU! manage to create those 4MB extended ADFs including multirevolution tracks, if RAWREAD can't create/support them?

Which tool did he use to create those extended ADFs?
