Like prowler I bought my two copies when Amithlon first came out - proper pressed CD's.
That was before the whole sordid business came out when A.(st)inc ordered H&P to stop selling followed by Bernie's withdrawal when he realised he'd been had AND could have been personally liable for millions in damages - Yes, our (in)glorious leaders have always been tw*ts... ...It wouldn't surprise me if SoftHut have a big pile of original discs + boxes. Back in the day H&P + A.(st)inc were together pushing Amithlon hard as the future of the 'classic' Amiga before A.(st)inc had one of their (um, rare?) changes of direction. I bet H&P had loads of discs pressed that didn't sell as well as they expected... ...I have a conspiracy theory to explain what went on if any like to subscribe to such things. What about it? It is a rant over the Amithlon trademark. Nothing to do with the OSXL CD.

Ah, I think there was a lot of bad blood around Amithlon.
Can happen with open source stuff when someone else comes in and "takes over" because either they have more time or are better coders. |

In theory GPL prevent this
but there are always exceptions like sadly Amithlon where commercial software/brand is incl. in the bundle and all became the loosers... |

The stickers on my v40.70beta KS ROM were professional looking with part numbers and Amiga Inc logos. Meaningless.

I've been convinced for some time that there is a big KS ROM conspiracy. :-)
And agreed, don't pay that much for Amithlon, if anything. I bought my original Amithlon package (complete with a silkscreened, pressed CD-ROM!) before the legal proceedings began, but later Bernie denied HP rights to sell the product. |
