Amiga 1200 Boot problem
Just getting into the real hardware these days! And so far I've gotten some really good help from the people I have purchased items from and I greatly appreciate it!
I recently purchased an 8MB trapdoor card and it tests memory ok with systest, but for whatever reason its not letting it boot from the drive (Compact flash). If I remove the card(memory) it boots again. Where should I start my troubleshooting? I did a little bit of searching but found very limited info. Thanks! |

Just a testing thought.
If it boots fine without the 8M card to the CF and it boot fine with the 8M card to floppy, what happens if you leave the 8M card in, and boot with no startup sequence? What OS version are you running? If low enough and you can boot with no startup-sequence and see the CF card, possibly something is conflicting. (I'm not thinking that is likely, but troubleshooting.. ;-) If it does boot with no startup-sequence, can you do a "loadwb" to get your Workench? |

CrazyC: Yes I was able to boot systest and run a ram test for all 10 megs ok.
I'll have to do some more testing when I get home, but I'm getting the 3.0 rom screen on boot. I will look into getting a 3.1 or 3.x or an eprom(which I will have to research) to burn 3.1.4 I know I should probably take a pencil eraser to the contacts as well. |

That CF is added through IDE or PCMCIA?

After some deep digging, I believe this card is a M1207 that I see other people have had problems with it not allowing pcmcia or cf on internal ide working.
And for the life of me I cannot find a manual to double check jumper settings. |

When I get a chance.. hopefully this weekend. I will play with the jumper settings and see what happens and post my findings.

I never did get it to allow my machine to boot from the CF on the IDE.
Here is as far as I tested. I finally gave up and installed my ACA1221ec Preboot screen shows mfg# 2194 When the Ram On Jumper was off, I still did not see DH Jumpers from left to right with the card markings right side up and readable 123 duu = 4 megs ddu = 4 megs ddd = 1 meg I did not test beyond that. Maybe it will help someone in the future. Thanks! |
