You could, but what would be the point? There isn't more to discuss as that thread already covers most points in that discussion so restarting it would just be repetition which would most likely end the same way..

That thread was closed due to all the constant bitchin'...

At the time there was a flood of "Vampire" related threads that all turned into flame wars, arguments etc.

apollo thingy is fpga and no amiga/motorola anymore, so why emulating?
and as i know apollo was made for speed. winuae with jit is fast enough.
so i don't don't think we need it.

The only thing i could think off is saga emulation, and maybe cpu instructions of the 080 cpu (if there are any)
I guess it is usefull to setup your wb in emulation before you put the system on the real thing. I don't own a vampire, but afaik it comes with its own wb so i don't know if its neccessary on these systems.

Just my 2 cents, i don't really care about vampire.

Just to clarify from an experienced end user standpoint.

Vampire doesn't come with any WB. Coffin OS is a separate thing you can download if you want a fully loaded and tested with Vampire WB 3.9 experience but you can (and I do) install any flavor of Workbench. Well, I can confirm WB 3.1, 3.5 and 3.9 from scratch.

Vampire FPGA is not emulation but I won't start that flame war here. If you want to argue about it please search youtube for videos that explain it in depth on a technical level I hardly have a basic understanding of. I very basically understand it as a reimplementation of the actual hardware without all the external ports.

I have successfully run and still do run the Coffin OS in WinUae simply by connecting a hard drive to my PC and configuring winuae with an 020 and lot's of ram as an A1200. The SAGA isn't really needed using uae graphics and Picasso96 drivers.

But to the point, I don't really see any benefit to Vampire emulation in WinUAE beyond maybe AMMX development perhaps? And at that point it wouldn't need to be a full emulation. But on that front, again, outside of my experience level. I don't think everyone developing for the AMMX is doing so on the actual Vampirized Amiga but I could be mistaken there.

As a "fanboy" I still don't see a need or use for Vampire emulation in winUAE but that's my personal opinion. I self identify as a fanboy because the Vampire A500v2+ has brought me much joy in the way of my Amiga 500 use like I never imagined I would ever experience at a reasonable cost these days. That is all. Just trying to be helpful.

You can't write something like that and then end by writing that you don't want to start a flame war, because that is the exactly what you risk doing by putting out such a statement. We all know that this is what have started many of the heated discussions and since everybody have already put out their positions in the matter, there is not really any point in reigniting that discussion.

Regarding 68080 emulation in WinUAE, one could argue that it could be a useful feature. Useful or not, Toni (the maker of WinUAE) has said that he is not going to add 68080 emulation and seeing as he obviously has the final say in that matter, that is also the end of that discussion.

Yup

...thread closed. If Toni wants to re-open then he can; don't hold your breath though
