Kipper2k? Anyone heard from him?

I've sent E-mails and PM about buying his External Gotek drive.
Been about 2 week and no response at all.

Is he OK, or just busy?

2 weeks is "normal" waiting time for when dealing with kipper, I think. At least based on my own limited experience. I'd give it another week, then send an email again? I wouldn't start to worry too much just yet.

My automatic response regarding getting in contact with kipper is to join apollo-team irc channel and poke him there.
He is active there daily, and is quite responsive.

I have sent multiple emails over the last nearly 4 months and even sent him a PM here on EAB.

No response to any of them.

Dunno.

Kipper2k is SWAMPED in orders for Vampire 600, and the orders are still flooding in.

Basically he got a procedure where he doesnt reply to a email until he is ready to deal with your order.

Again, if you want to talk to Kipper2k, he is available every day on IRC, and quite active;

irc.freenode.org
port 6667

join channel: #apollo-team

If he doesnt reply in IRC, he is either sleeping, away from keyboard or busy soldering (most likely soldering).
Leave him a private irc message is my suggestion IF he doesnt respond.

I should really copy this post since people keep asking about this.

Perhaps he only thinks so because he doesn't read them anymore. In reality they are all inquiries about unprocessed orders...

Another factor these days is that there is a lot of footie on TV and England is still competing. I bet his speed will go up again after the next penalty shootout...

Starting to think for the 500 and 1200 Vampires, it may be more sensible to get the board construction outsourced to a dedicated facility?

It can't be practical or particularly fair to get one poor guy to build up what is likely to be several thousand boards?

The Vampire/Apollo guys maybe should move to more mass production. The FPGA Arcade is now being (low volume) mass produced in China but then they will have fewer products to mass produce and support. Too bad the Vampire/Apollo and FPGA guys would never coop for a 3rd gen stand alone FPGA device which would probably have enough volume to properly mass produce. At least both groups are attracting buyers and are interested in adding co-processors (instead of taking away the standard FPU like a mid-80s Amiga). Without cooperation, 68k AmigaOS development and standards, I don't expect it to go anywhere, even if they sell several times more hardware than the blocker elites.

I believe kipper2k and Majsta are both building hardware. You were typing the same thing I was about more mass production though .
