Thank you for reminder how old we are...

To celebrate this, I hacked my PS2 and PS Vita.

Mine looks like it went through war. My brother, in teens at the time, took it and returned it once he got PS2. I am surprised it still works. Have about 30-40 games for it, never been moded.

Somewhere in the family I have one still floating around as well... My PS2 still works fine in any case, unbreakable machine.

Ushered in a new era of gaming and probably put the death nail in Commodore. I'd be upset but it needed to be done. Just a shame I brought my CD32 a year before the release of PSX, kept it until even CD32 Gamer gave up on it, then got a PlayStation.

The only sensible move to be made it has to be said. Cannot even remember what I did with the CD32, must have sold it I guess otherwise it would still be in my mums loft.

Done that too meself, did you notice how quite a few PS1 ISOs (converted to proto-VCDs beforehand) could be played from start to finish from HDD or USB thanks to the POPStarter project assets (maintained by a very nice and talented French fellow). No risk of scratching precious original discs, no need for expensive PSIO, just pure awesomeness. Oh, by the way, just curious, did you give up on hacking your Wii ?
About that Playstation anniversary event, well, Sony, enjoy fully your 25th birthday, 'cause lighthearted fun may not last.
See, Project Scarlett is round the corner, getting ready to crush upcoming PS5 to bits !

It's all about the games, and on that score Microsoft cannot compete. This is also ignoring the fact PS5 is rumoured to be more powerful, but hey ho, each to their own I guess.

Exactly, it's all about the games.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is rumoured being in dev for PS5, so that pretty much settles it for me which one to choose when the time comes.

I like both, and currently have both consoles. Which one we will upgrade first, that definitely depends on the games, as well total price.

I love Horizon Zero Dawn, but also Forza Horizon series.

Took me much longer to get xBox, but since we got it, play station is rarely used, mostly to play BR.

MS don't really care about xbox, gamepass for windows tells you that.

Won't suprise me if there's eventually a gamepass for PlayStation and no more xbox.

So, since there is PlayStation Now for windows, we should assume that Sony does not care about PlayStation either?!

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ex.../ps-now-on-pc/

That is funny comment from you, buddy.

It's hardly the same is it. Microsoft games run natively on pcs, PlayStation now is a streaming service the games still running on PlayStation's when your playing it.

Nice move! Though personally, I would pull out my credit card for a PS streaming service only if it was aimed at bringing more Sega and Neo Geo goodness to their legacy consoles (PS3, probably PS2 is lost cause except for modders). By the way, my dislike of modern FPS (Serious Sam being an exception) stems from the impression industry used psychologists research to get kids hooked to Halo, same could be said about Fortnite (pay attention to the unusual gamut of colors). Huge success despite bland gameplay evokes suspicion in my book.

Retro-compatibility is the key here, I'd rather say. See, next Xbox or should I say Xbox's (since two different consoles are in preparation) are said to be capable of playing most of the previous MS consoles back catalogue, including first Xbox games.

Happily owned all 4 gens & was my main gaming go-to after Commodore went belly-up! Getting back into some of the old C64/Amiga emulation stuff recently though after replacing my hard drives & installing Win7/10...out of practice!
Hope I can afford ps5,at least we should be able to bring most of our ps4 backlog across!

You might find this interesting as well...

Don't be surprised if next Horizon Zero Down plays on xBox first.

I only hope that the PS5 has more interesting games than the current generation. The 'Top 100' lists I've read are populated by the same tired old franchises, endless FPS games and upscaled remasters of games I already own.

It's similar to the way mainstream cinema is full of Marvel-type films that I could not give two fucks about. If that's the future then the last interesting PlayStation was the PS3 (IMHO obvs).
