Z3 fast ram decreased !

I've set 64Meg of Z3 Fast ram (2 or 8 Chip ram, 0 slow ram, 0 fast ram), but as soon as the workbench screen appears, it gets decreased to 16 !

I'm using Winuae 1.5; am I doing something wrong or is it a bug ?

My Win XP system has got 128 Meg physical RAM !

I think max RAM limit introduced in 1.4.6 (or something like that) has never been tested with less than 512M RAM..

I experienced this earlier too, I set to 16MB and it automatically showed as 8MB in WB.

I also had a lot of problems trying to run whdload games saying that screenmodes couldn't be found, and saying that whdload couldn't allocate enough memory, although 8MB was clearly enough to load the small games I was trying.

I can try to reproduce the error and upload a log if you like, just let me know.

My system has 256mb RAM by the way, with WinUAE 1.5

ok... why not just get some el-cheap-o RAM and get rid of these probs? XP with 128/256MB ram is a pain ...

I actually have a gig of RAM coming in the post.

Either way, it's still a bug in the program.

Both logs would be nice to see..

It may not be bug if it started in 1.5 because previously RTG RAM was separate block, 1.5+ it is in JIT direct memory block. Max RAM includes both Z3 and RTG now (as in not a bug if Windows refuses to allocate it = need logs)

Right... just done a few tests...

Firstly I discovered something strange...

I loaded a config but forgot to tick log, so I clicked restart, then ticked the box to record a log, but no logfile was made.

Anyway on to the point at hand...

I loaded up WinUAE, this time it had the correct amount of RAM, I went to load a whdload game, which told me my kickstarts weren't in devs... no idea why as I've been using this config for years and have never had this problem before. I went to check they were there... yep. I clicked retry and the game loaded. See attached winuaelog_1.txt

Next time I loaded WinUAE the RAM issue was back, it said I had just under 7mb of Fast RAM left which is about half what I should be seeing (16mb is set in the menu). Also, this time I attempted to boot a couple of whdload games, one loaded fine, the second game said I didn't have the correct monitors installed (which I do). See attached winuaelog_2.txt

Done.

This showed half-ram, no problems with loading games this time.

I've got 1gb of RAM now so I've not really got a way of testing if the problem is still there sorry!

I just tried it.
This time Z3 Fast Ram gets decreased to 4MB (having set it up to 64MB) and RTG memory is decreased to "none" !

I tried both "local VRam" and "non local VRam" in "Misc" panel; do they affect the RAM issue in any way or are they for other purposes ?
