.lha game files

Im new to the amiga scene and Ive downloaded a few whdload games that are in the .lha format. What do i do to get them onto my cf card and play them? Im able to create my own bootable drive with classic WB so im not a complete novice but i get stuck with downloaded .lha games.

When you say you've downloaded them, do you mean Retroplays installs, or the files from whdload.de?

If it's retroplays packs, you just need to unarchive them onto your card somewhere, I believe ClassicWB will do this for you with a double click (but haven't used it for a long time)

If it's from the WHD website, you will need to extract it as above, but you will then need to run the installer which will request the floppies/ADFs/IPFs/Whatevers for the game to install.

And just to clarify, .lha is an archive format that can contain anything, pretty much the equivalent of .zip on PCs. It doesn't have anything directly to do with WHDLoad or games.

Really don't know why you'd create a thread about this when lha could be located on google and downloaded in a matter of seconds.

He's new to the Amiga scene as he stated, lets not scare of the newbies

Thought his question was pretty clear.

If he had asked his question to Google or even the EAB site search, he would already have had his answers.

He may be new to the Amiga scene, but the internet is no longer a new thing. Most people who have the smarts to use a forum also know how to use a search engine.

In ClassicWB, just highlight the file(s) in DirOpus and press "Arc Ext".

Personally I don't see the problem. There is no need to be overly harsh. We all had to start somewhere even if it was on real hardware in the 80s.

The thread is in the new to emulation or Amiga scene section so chill out dudes.

Agreed

We should always assist new members with whatever questions they have and make them feel welcome.

Maybe I should have put more detail in my question. Ive extracted the .lha in directory opus, inserted it into amiga and ran the install program, its asking for disk 1 but i downloaded it from WHDLoad so there are no discs. What do I do next?

Ok, so sounds like you are getting just the game / demo slaves from here: http://whdload.de/. As Ian said, you will need to have floppies / ADFs / IPFs to now actually install the game.

A better thing to do would be grabbing Retroplay's complete WHDLoad games / demos from the EAB File Server under Commodore_Amiga/Retroplay. With these everything has already been installed so just extract and go

Since we can get everything from Google we don't need this forum right?
