ILYAD from UBISOFT
Hi guys,
I just got a look on the Ilyad entry on HOL, stating that UBISOFT never released the game before 1992, and that amiga action released it in 1991. This is actually inexact. The game was released in shops in 1990. I have the original floppy disk of the game, and it states clearly (C) UBISOFT 1990. The game was also tested in the tilt magazine in February 1991 (the game was finished end 1990). Can you please change the actual date to 1990 ? check this BTW : http://www.pixelageworld.it/articolo...oft-amiga-1990 this guy has the same original as me, saying the game was release in 1990. Magazines can be even less reliable. Amiga Action claimed in their May '91 issue that they had a "never released" copy of the game on their coverdisk, yet ACAR (Australia) and ASM (Germany) were reviewing the Ubi Soft release in their May '91 issue also. It is possible that Tilt's Feb '91 review may have been in advance of the commercial release too. When there is such confusion, it is often better to look at the date stamps of (exec) files on the original game disks or the scene releases. Is your original DOS or NDOS? I'm guessing NDOS, but hopefully not. Last edited by DrBong; 10 March 2015 at 17:57. |

A Kultboy.com user claims it was released 1990 in Germany. He still has the receipt from a well known mail order company from August 1990.

Cool! From the translation it sounds like Adept actually found the receipt for the game and it was dated August 1990. Is that correct?

Correct. Let's wait if he is willing to scan the receipt.

CFOU already did an installer, but well, if you want to do it again..... Be my guest !
About the release date, i think this game has in fact 2 versions. My disk is NDOS indeed, and from the infos i have gathered here and there, my disk was released end of 1990, this would explains the 1991 date. The disk spotted by Drbong (Carlo), is surely a not dumped version, earlier release. someone should get its hands on it ! |

The only headache now is trying to find out whether that original disk I spotted on Ebay was actually released in 1989 or not! Luckily, I know the seller.....so I might be able to twist his arm and get him to check the disk without having to buy it. Fingers crossed! Too rich (and not interesting enough) for my blood atm! I'd much rather put that sort of money toward a boxed copy of the Ilyad (or a donation to RCK). |

I assume JCM = Jean-Charles Meyrignac. Very similar to Pang protection (also PA), but Ilyad has some cute extras. Last edited by pants; 01 June 2017 at 02:31. |

Yes indeed, Jean Charles Meyrignac ahahah XD !
For the little story, Pierre Adane owes to JCM his ability to make optimized and better Amiga code. JCM was very efficient at doing great 68000, and Pierre got everything from him. |
