F-16 Strike Eagle II. I love flight sims, but this is one I kept going back to, even when there was a new one released. Had a great combination of action and sim and good missions. Pinball Fantasies/Dreams would also qualify as a game I kept going back to. There was a HD-only release that bundled them all and saved high scores that was one of the best hacks I'd seen for a game.
Most other games I'd play awhile and just put away. |

OK most of the games mentioned below came up to me (in the sense of "yeah I stuck with this too!") from reading YOUR lists.
One game came to my mind first though that nobody mentioned and many probably don't know about: E.C.O. - you take the role of an insect or something, in a dull 3D world, trying to survive (not get eaten, eat and... procreate) and make your... DNA better (!). I don't know why I kept coming back to that game. Maybe the atmosphere? I dunnp. Others: XCom - I loved the interface, I love science fiction, what else there is to it? Deluxe Galaga - True Arcade Classic feel Turrican 2 - Erm... like everybody? (seen Hurrican remake on PC? TRY IT!) SWOS - Greeks love soccer.- Prince of Persia - Armosphere, animation... Lara before Lara. Lemmings (etc.) - Who did NOT get stuck with this? Deuteros - Great space strategy game. Faery Tale - There was always some "mystery" with this game (in fact having found on-line maps, reviews, walkthroughs etc. still does!)... looked "bigger than life" back then too... Frontier - Love Elite in CBM64 (and everywhere) and Frontier was "WOOOOOW" back then. Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon - A Cinemaware game I think, that didn't go to well I think. For some reason even though I didn't really know how to play it and load times were irritating, I kept going back. Champers of Shaolin - SO well made. Loved kicking the ball while water was coming up. Ports of Call - Really nice for its time. Spent many hours playing it. Joe Blade - A classic, although I think the "freeze after kill" was a bug not a feature (anybody else to say something about this?) - as I later saw versions on different computers and didn't have that. Even then, I kept coming back. Wings of Fury - Stuck to it for reasons that remain unknown. Bad Cat - Stuck to it because it made me angry. ...more that I don't remember. |

Great to see this thread still going strong, some seven months on
Also, I would like to add footy manager games, especially Championship Manager 93... it should come with a health warning, it can easily eat entire days. |

Pinball fantasies, slamtilt, super stardust, super cars 2, worms
But the most addictive were SWOS (both single player and vs a friend, still playing sometimes) XCOM (still playing that in emulation, nothing beats this game in its genre) |

Oh yeah, Super Cars 2... Used to play that 2-player ALL the time. We tried a few other 2-player games here and there but that was one we kept going back to.

I never played the Amiga version but I assume it is similarly addictive:
Prince Of Persia. It's a limited time game that you can finish in 30 minutes (once you know how and what to do). You can even save and play it in two strikes of 15 minutes. I've played the DOS, the Mac, and even the SEGA CD versions aplenty, and they were (are) all fun. Talkie |
