Question CD32 cdrom drive gear

hi there,

i am currently servicing two CD32 which suffer from the same mechanics failure. The white nylon gear (the only drive gear which is easy to remove) got brittle and teeth broke. i found no source to buy new ones (the one found here on EAB isnt valid anymore). if someone has a source for those gears, that would be great.

nevertheless i tried to construct one by myself. never used CAD and of course never designed gears before. well, surprisingly enough, i created a model. if someone with some skills would have a look, that would be just great. i´d like to construct an exact copy and upload it here. BTW: from my experience with my printers, i dont think it is 3D printable with FDM, the teeth will not be sturdy. Resin maybe, havent got one.

What i have so far:
big gear
- outer diameter (da): 26,8mm
- inner diameter (df): 25,6mm
- module: 0,28mm
- teeth: 94

small gear
- da: 4,8mm
- df: 3,45mm
- module: 0,30mm
- teeth: 14

part dimensions:
- 26,8mm width
- 22mm height

i got a freecad file with the clips missing and a sketchup file with clips (didnt manage to constuct these with freecad). i've attached the freecad file for someone with knowledge to check the gears. any help is much appreciated.

i have found the replacement mechanics with laser at aliexpress: https://t.ly/Vu_K

nevertheless i would like to finish the 3D model of the gear. So i still need some advice on constructing it.

I received 4 units from the source mentioned above. since these are used units, the gear was also worn in 3 of the 4 units. this is not what i hoped for, so i will try to print one of my designs, just to check, if i matched the dimensions and gears etc. i dont expect a FDM-printer to get usable gears printed, but in the end, i will have a valid 3Dmodel of the gear.

Hi runCMD. You can buy the missing white gear separately for the KSS-210A at AliExpress: https://t.ly/c_4gu

thx for the hint!
following your link, the clips are missing on that gear. the ones with clips are suggested right there: https://t.ly/Cjq5J
these and other offers of that gear seem to be used, too.

summer and some days off kept me from printing a prototype and check the dimensions of the model. as soon as i have a valid prototype of the gear, i will post the final version.

I think it's a great idea to 3D print obsolete CD32 parts yourself
