Bippym must be refering to pricing when the systems just came out. I remember paying $1100 for a 2x HP 4020i cdr burner when it fist came out in the 1990's, cutting edge equipment was so expensive back then even for the PC.

2 external floppy's - around 150€
blizzard 1230 iv - really no idea, storeprice shortly after it came out
elsa tristar 56k - around 200€
that pcmcia cdrom (overdrive?) - around 250€
countless competition pro and disks - around 350€

worth every cent

OK, then me: (DM = German marks)

A500 w/monitor (in 1988 = 1600 DM (820 €) ==> now R.I.P.)
Amiga Intern - literature, 99 DM (50 €)
Amiga 500 Book - (20 €)
Original boxed games - 80 €
Amiga 1000 w/1081 monitor (in 2003; 50 €) (what a bargain!!)
Amiga 1000 memory expansion ($20 AUS, about 12 €)
about 15 quality disk packs (FUJI, 10pcs, one was about 15 DM I think?) - 115 €

plus:
215 DM (110 €) for a C=1084 monitor repair in 1991 (vertical deflexion unit)
(back in 1991, 1084 monitors were still VERY expensive)

Replacement floppy disk drive (internal; 198 DM = 100 €)
=> 1357 €

Maybe some more for countless microswitches for the Competition Pro

a PHCM8833 14" Monitor 548,00 DM (still alive & kickin!)

the mon cable 29,00 DM
1989 i bought an epson LQ550 899,00 DM ! + 12,95 DM for CP/SUBD 1,8m cable.
1989 10 pcs no name 3,5" were 15,98 DM
1991 a CDTV 1600 DM (ouch)
A500, A600,ram-expansion, freezer,tons of disks, books, Paper,magazines and so on...
and 5 or 6 competition-pro Sticks.

normal price was 1350 DM / 690 Euro
1986 - 1990 Whole Lotta joysticks (several Quickshot IIs, Competition Pros)
1996 - A600HD (0 Euro) a gift (To trash or to me)
2000 - Monitor 1084S (0 Euro) a gift (as above)
2001 - A2000 (90 Euro, incl. HD, VGA-Flicker-Fixer-Card, 2 floppies)
2003 - Interface to connect the Amiga-Joysticks to the PC (25 Euro)
1995 - today Whole Lotta disks, joysticks, amigas, wrecked amigas........

I have no idea really. I can't count the first amiga I got, because that was a gift. But then I had to get a monitor with my own money. That was about £300 I seem to remember. Then 512kb ram expansion, was about £60 here in norway. I also bought a lot of disks (although I didn't copy EVERYTHING, like some people I knew did. I was more picky), controllers (bought two 6-button Megadrive controllers for about £25 each just for Sensi, so I think I could label that under the amiga). Since then I bought hardware and software and accessories for a lot of money.

All in all I think I've spent well over £2000 in total, if you count EVERYTHING up and until today.

Edit: I remember 2x CD-ROM-Drive too (Toshiba - adapter included) .... about $100.00 ... Good thing I waited a couple of month, it was about $800.00 before

I was thinking about this earlier. I must be nearly at a grand now. Ive been on and off with Amiga since it finished back in 97(for me) an it seems things are getting more expensive since 2003 when i sersiously got back into it. There is an SX32pro on ebay for 860euros. In 98 i reckon 50euros

Look at how much things cost when converted via RPI to todays prices. I decided not to calculate the adjusted total as it would just upset me.

You'll notice what is absent is hard drives which are all "hand me down", mainly stock 10GB Seagate drives from X-box 1's.

My best "buy" was my A3000 which cost only £80 from Argonaut, and that was for the PicassoIV!

Although my A4000 for free was good too. Swapped for 2*128MB DIMMS which were being thrown away because they had no SPD chips was also good.

My MiniMig and Deneb were also good "buys" too

Someone turned up on EAB with an untested SX32 MK1 and asked for offers and I offered £55 + postage and apparently there were no other offers.

Remember this is the non PRO version. i.e. no CPU

Piccolo SD64 graphics card £290
1995: A4000, 2nd hand £400

So around Three and a half grand. I still made money out of the Amigas though

And that's excluding the collection, but that's peanuts comparatively.
