Video capture with ZMBV codec

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here had any luck with capturing video using ZMBV codec (it's a codec distributed with DOSBox)? I have it installed in my system (Windows 7 64-bit), it is listed in Windows Media Player, Virtualdub also detects it, but it doesn't show in the list of available codecs in WinUAE. I already tried with both 32 and 64-bit versions of WinUAE - didn't help. Any ideas what else could I try?

I did some digging in the source code of WinUAE and ZMBV and it seems that ZMBV isn't compatible with video format coming from WinUAE (BI_RGB, 24 bit). I guess I'll use a different codec. Thanks!

Enable genlock emulation (genlock enabled and also some genlock image mode active) to force 32-bit capturing mode
(EDIT: if it helps, option can be added later)

Sorry for digging this thread up after such a long time, but I didn't have much spare time recently. Using genlock did help, thanks for this suggestion! If anyone wants to record their WinUAE session using ZMBV codec here are some tips:
  1. Install DosBOX. ZMBV codec isn't installed by default - you need to run "Install movie codec" located in Windows Start menu.
  2. The codec seems to be 32-bit only, so you need to use 32-bit version of WinUAE.
  3. You need to enable genlock in WinUAE Chipset menu.
  4. ZMBV codec won't get recognized right away in Output Video dialog. You need to start emulation first, go back to options and the codec will be detected then.
After some initial testing I'd say it's worth to go through this trouble. I recorded 2 minutes of gameplay from Hook and transcoded it with ZMBV and Lagarith. ZMBV file was 4.2MB and Lagarith was 103MB.

Thanks for help!

24/32 selection will be autodetected in next version. If 24-bit fails, 32-bit is automatically attempted.
