Cool Cuphead - available 2016 on XBOX ONE & STEAM

Finally! An awesome platformer in the style of old Mickey Mouse movies: cupheadgame

Trailer: [ Show youtube player ]

Quote:
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930's, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional cel animation (hand drawn & hand inked!), watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.

Its games like this that prove that graphics CAN make a game. It looks awesome because of the 30's graphics style.

oh yeah, "style" can make a game, but technically this is not super-realistic high-polygon 3D, could have been made at any time in the last 20 years or so if someone had thought to do it!

But nobody did, until this bunch of extraordinarily dedicated people came along.

I really hope the game doesn't turn out to be a dud gameplay-wise. It looks like it's not exactly a game that ever slows down, which makes it bad for me. I prefer taking my time.

Not at that resolution. It only looks like the 1930's cartoons because the resolution is high enough to hide most of the pixelation. That's only really been possible in the last few years.

Yeah, that's a good point. Something similar will have been possible since the PS1 era most definitely, but not as true to the source material as this is.

Now that you say this, this is the first game I want to see in 4k.

Yeah, Heart of Darkness promo materials spring into mind, they showed beautiful 640x480 screens and when the game came out it was 320x240 cause no system could handle it back then with such fluid animation

i dunno, i've mostly only watched 1930's cartoons on a PAL television, what resolution do you think it needs?
