GODS Remastered - The Bitmap Brothers classic Platformer overhauled (SteamPC)

GODS Remastered - The Bitmap Brothers classic Platformer overhauled needs your Greenlight votes

Quote:
A special heads up for Friday as The Bitmap Brothers classic 'Gods'; a Platformer from 1991 that appeared on multiple platforms including my favourite computer, the Amiga. Is getting an all new HD remaster to be released third quarter 2017, that currently needs your Steam Greenlight votes. In this famous game featuring the lyrics " Into the wonderful ", you control the legendary Hercules in his quest to achieve immortality, your task is to rid your city of demons by defeating them while also solving puzzles, picking up items, pulling levers and completing each set level.

Posted this here as it is Amiga related, although not specific to the Amiga... What do you guys think of this remaster?

my few thoughts:
- very nice title screen
- main character from 1991 have better graphics and animation, even with lower resolution and 32 colors...
- advert is short to hide how cheaply done everything is
- good to see old ideas, enemies in new game
- everything may be better in other eyes

Hmmm... I'm not convinced. Some bits look nice, but it seems to lose its charm when you look at the gameplay. It may be an identical play experience to the original, but it 'looks' worse because of it. The original gameplay 'matched' the graphical and musical style and makes the game so much more than the sum of its parts. The remaster would be better if it was full 3d, locked to a 2.5d world (similar to Little Big Planet).

But, having seen the vid, I'm off to play the original now

I do not like it. And the worst is the main character that walks like a chicken.

Awful. Looks like designed in a generic game maker.

They've hidden Youtube comments and votes section. I think they don't like some criticism. :P

On Facebook all like it...of course.

On Steam are more realistic opinions.

The remastered graphics and look feel like it was developed with some generic game maker software.

Its not rose tinted glasses on, but Marc Colemans original 16 colour graphics are far better looking.

Edit: they used Unity :/

Wow, what an intelligent answer from the developer! Why did not we think that?

@Rorque I guess it's hard to please everyone with a project like this. If you don't like the new graphics then you might want to play with the original pixel graphics and sounds that will also be in there.

my few thoughts:
- dragon have something wrong with contrast, it's like cardboard
- main character is like some generic warrior example delivered with game tool
- original fonts for score is nice touch

And he walks like a duck. Why the hell is Mike Montgomery involved in this? Can't be the cheap (very cheap) money.

Gods being a masterpiece, I don't understand why Mike Montgomery gave the green light for such a thing.

Why do absolutely all re-done versions have to have dull and dreary palettes (see SOTB) and much brown and grey? The old graphics largely looks better apart from resolution and depth.
I think Nintendo are the only ones not afraid of primary colours.
