Twittamiga help

Hi there.

Anybody uses this program to tell me what I am doing wrong? I have the 2 following issues with the last version on aminet:

1) SSLROOT requester as soon as the program starts. I gave the AMISSL path but I think is wrong.
2) it seems that the app doesn’t see the internet on my amiga. At the bottom left of the GUI it says that twitter cannot connect.

Anybody some help?

The SSLROOT assign comes from OpenSSL found here:

http://amiga.sourceforge.net/OpenSSL/#dls

Looking a bit more into it, OpenSSL is part of AMISSL which is already installed to my system and is inside AMISSL folder. Giving this path to Twittamiga for the SSLROOT doesn’t solve the problem unless I am doing smg wrong

I was just about to post asking this exact question. I have the latest AmiSSL installed but obviously it didn't create a SSLROOT volume.
Is there an assign missing?

I don't have a Twitter account, so can't test this for myself...

Different versions of OpenSSL may or may not work differently.
Even if it does work the assigns are more complicated than pointing SSLROOT: to a directory. Have you tried this:

Assign >NIL: SSLROOT: "SYS:Internet/AmiSSL"
Assign >NIL: SSLCERTS: SSLROOT:certs
Assign >NIL: SSLPRIVATE: SSLROOTrivate
PATH SSLROOT: ADD

TwittAmiga 4.3 lists AmiSSL 3.6 not the latest version. It is recommended to install all versions of AmiSSL to support older software.

So I tried it and added the assigns and the add command in my startup-sequence. Rebooted and assigns were made fine. Unfortunately still the app can’t connect to Twitter. No SSLROOT requester of course since we have the assigns.

Very strange app that can’t see the tcp/ip stack or AMISSL and obviously nobody uses it if there is no answer on how to fix it. No wonder no one is using it!!

James, even though we don’t have the solution yet that was a great response and I appreciate it.
I when I ran snoopdos while trying to load twittamiga I noticed it was trying to launch OpenSSL.cnf
Amissl has OpenSSL in its directory but I can’t see a openssl.cnf in any of the amissl sub directories. Not sure if that helps solve this mystery but I thought I would contribute my findings.

James I don’t think you need a twitter account to test it. When opening the app it should connect to generic twitter anyway. It says in the notes that the account details could be empty.
The app doesn’t connect anywhere at all.

I rolled back my install of AmiSSL to 3.6 and typed all the below assigns and whatnot, and I still cant seem to get it to connect. Is anyone running this currently and can confirm its working?
Thanks,
Dan

Did you try to get behind what's going on as the Q&A in the readme says? It suggests starting it from a shell like this:

stack 102400
twittamiga debug

I'm sorry that I did not see this thread before. Twitter changed their SSL so that twittAmiga cannot connect anymore. Unfortunately, I’m unable to link a current version of AmiSSL with cURL (required for the connection) and thus I cannot provide an update. In this forum there is a thread about GCC 6.2 where I try to solve that problem and I was also in contact with Chris Young, who is also unable to compile it with something newer than gcc 3.4.

Thanks for the update. Does that mean that there will be an update in the future or not;

Hard to say. It depends on the availability of a cURL with AmiSSL. If yes sure and I check that regularly.
