Broken processor socket
Please look at attached picture.
My A2000 board's processor socket has a broken piece on it. Too many times removing processor (tiny screwdriver) Is this necessary for it to function or is it just a structural piece for strength? Seems solid still. |

It makes no difference at all, as long as the springs in the socket pins are still tight. Be careful you don't mar the PCB if you need to remove the CPU again.

Thanks for replying. Probably won’t touch this one again, just bought another MB.

Only the second one of those should be even considered for pulling a CPU - they're not designed for such large chips and risk slipping off during extraction, severely damaging the pins in the process.

I have a chip puller but sometimes the stress on the motherboard is just too much.
