EAB/Lemon Super League 2018: Out with the old, in with the new...

...and by 'old', I mean me.

Yes folks, after an entire decade of overseeing and helping to run the competition from the blank canvas of setting up a joint league between two separate websites, to the unstoppable juggernaut it is today (ahem), I've decided now is the right time for me to take a step away from being so heavily involved in proceedings and use some of that time and energy to actually enjoy taking part as a proper competitor and everything.

But don't fret! Oh, you weren't. Well at least pretend...

The 'new', however, is 2017 champion and supreme Amiga games overlord... john4p! Yes, we decided that with his obvious gamesplaying skill, knowledge and sharp attention to detail, John was a great fit for taking over my role in keeping the competition running (more) smoothly (than I was managing).

This officially kicks in for the 2018 season as I'm taking care of the end of this year (including the Knockout), but we're already getting him well involved in the private mods discussions, although we haven't yet got round to telling him about the initiation ceremony where he has to sit tied to a creaky old chair, with one foot a bowl of custard playing Dangerous Streets on the CD32, whilst singing It's Raining Men backwards in Swahili. I trust he won't reconsider.

So please welcome him aboard the Super League Moderation Train whilst I wake up just in time to check I have my belongings and hop off at my stop. I'm sure he'll do a top job in keeping things ticking over.

Before I sign off, though, I'd just like to thank my fellow mods Dan and Mike (and founder Lemon moderator Biscuit) for their hard work and enthusiasm through the years to keep things going, as well as, of course, all of you lot for playing, voting, giving us your ideas, pushing games to limits surely not imagined by anybody and basically giving us a competition to run. You've all been wonderful. (Well, almost all, anyway.)

Don't think it's possible to improve on how this has been run. My goal is to keep it on the same level.

Yeah no problem, I often do just that to relax anyway (except the language is usually Sanskrit).

Thank you Graham! Hope you'll participate more as a player now like you've hinted at on Lemon!

Really nothing's gonna change except for maybe a scoring system that feels less punishing (and there will be less eloquently written texts now since my vocabulary is a bit limited). I promise to do my best to make the competition fun for every participant.

I hope not! The last thing we on red side would need is another strong player for EAB

Thanks! Just saw you haven't participated in a long time either (like turrican3), hope you could give the league another try next season (or soon in the Knockout).

And I hope you do just that. I'm thinking the two of us can make an ex-mod bid for victory in 2018. Give 'em the old 1, 2. They don't stand a chance now the chains are off.

Anyhow, Hooray for Graham for being an excellent mod all these years and I'm sure John will continue in fine form.

Thanks mate. Great to see you back around again. It doesn't seem five minutes since we were discussing the details of setting this competition up. Hopefully we're able to see you back playing again.

Yeah, time has been flying by. There was a noticeable disturbance in the force and lo and behold I returned to discover your passing the torch on to John!!! Powerful forces are at work. An important time to play video games. I plan to witness this 2018 Super League.

Hey Graham! I have barely participated of the Super League (played a few rounds last couple of years, but I can never manage to keep my promise to play a whole league... maybe who knows 2018 ? ), but you always made a great job with it. Now enjoy your retirement time

And welcome John4p to your new duties

Since he's already placed his votes for the Knockout it's looking quite likely now.
