Angry Screen modes, overscan and the black borders of death

Hi everyone - first post here!

I recently bought a nice Amiga 1200 and fitted it with a 4 GB HD and a Phase 5 Blizzard 1230 IV with 32 Mb of RAM, then got a scart RGB cable and plugged it to my beloved 29" Panasonic CRT TV, ready to enjoy the 300 MB or so of WHDLoad games I had...but to my great disappointment I saw that there was no way of filling my TV's screen completely. Black borders! Nooooooo!

I have tried every screen mode, both PAL and NTSC; used overscan, which works a treat under Workbench...but still no good with games.

Is this it? Is there no way whatsoever to do away with the infamous black borders when using a CRT TV? And no, I am not going to poke at it with a trimmer.

Am I the only anal Amiga gamer who hates black borders, or do most of you play on vintage monitors? I have spotted a good condition Philips 8833, but going from 29 to 13 inches is not something I particularly relish...

im assuming its a widescreen,if so some have the option the re-scale the picture in a menu somewhere i have a philips 100hz tv that can do this automaticly.the option may be turned off on yours.although it will stretch it or try 16.9 if its in the menu.

You can't adjust the horiz and vert width and get most of the black borders outside the bezel of the crt TV?
