Copper list assistance

Argghhh...

Please could someone give me some assistance on trying to work out a copperlist that I have.

The HRM states that there is 312 lines that I can use in PAL mode, so I'm trying to create a pretty simple list that draws lines 1-16 at one bitplane, then 16-240 the main game area, then 241-256 the bottom play area in another bitplane.

The HRM states that in PAL mode I can get to vertical lines above 256 by waiting for position 255, then waiting for any horizontal position for the remaining lines I need... but it isn't happening.

I've bashed this one for 3 hours now and I can't figure the damn thing out... I'll continue to try but I suspect the more experienced coders know this inside out.

To help I've posted a quick video to show what I mean. It shows the Video play area with the short vertical line change and then a switch to the AR to show the copper list.

Any help is really, really, really appreciated
