X-Chat is pretty nice, one of the free Win32 ports can be found here.

I use Xircon 1.04b and its never let me down yet. and its free and stable.

Is irc.abime.net down and thus causing huge slowdowns on EAB? I checked it here : http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/irc.abime.net and they tell me it's not just me

Anything knows what's going on?

Block 'http://irc.abime.net/*' with AbBlock Plus and woooosh EAB is fast again

Well it's only a temp fix till it's working again.

Maybe RCK should re-write the IRC check code a bit

Something like:

If found IRC
Check stats
Else
Load EAB

Maybe a reduction to 5 secs instead of 60 would make a big difference

I just tried to advise a simple solution for you GH, but setting "http://irc.abime.net/*" in IE under: Internet Options > Privacy > Sites blocks the whole abime.net, lol :/
