your collection reminds me of Dale Luck's Warehouse, Jim Sachs in an interview once talked
about it, and there was a video or at least some images of the areal or something. which I cannot find anymore. not sure about a good title, but between the lines, youy should read something like: Never give up, Never surrender [ Show youtube player ] |

Nothing special about it. I was buying Amigas right from release. Some for fun, most for work.
That's what I used several for. Twenty odd 4000s maxed out as much as possible then connected into a render farm. Kept using it until it became so much more practical to use PCs. |

A full Installation would be a great benefit, if someone will find time for this.

Here's the next batch. This is the last time I'll include other stuff on the list. I'm going to start a thread for everything. I'll continue posting here stuff that is useful for video work.
The Toaster Flyer developer documentation is among the more interesting ones this time. Some of the software I've only uploaded the documentation - the disks had succumbed to bit rot. Never fear, I've got multiple copies and when I go home to pick up the next batch I'll fetch them. Wow, thank you so much, Pgovotsos! This repository is getting more and more rich, your contribution is immensely appreciated.
I don't know if you are aware of this, but we also have started a 'Lightwave Showroom and tutorials' thread where we post links of videos and tutorials, in case you want to subscribe. http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=86234 Cheers! muadib Amiga Raytracing Society Last edited by Muadib; 23 April 2018 at 06:17. |

I wanted to ask a question of the thread for an opinion.
Quite a bit of the documentation is constructed from letter size paper that is printed in landscape with two pieces of text on each side of the sheet then all of the pages are folded in half, forming a book that is 8.5" x 6.5". Each sheet of paper has 4 pages on it but the 4 pages are not in consecutive page order. The two pages on the left half of the sheet are consecutive to each other and the two on the right half of the sheet are consecutive to each other but the two halves are several pages apart because all of the sheets of paper are stacked and folded in half to form the completed book. Currently I have been disassembling the books and scanning each half page in portrait alignment on a separate full portrait letter size page in numerical page order. This lets you print all of the pages consecutively to form the document. The only problem with this is that you end up using four times as many sheets of paper as the original document (twice if you are printing double sided). The opinion I am looking for is if there is any interest in having the documents scanned the same as the original - 4 pages on each double sided sheet of paper vs 1 on each sheet. This way you could print the pages out and assemble the document by folding the sheets in half to end up with a half sheet sized book like the original. This would save a lot of paper and give you something that looks nicer than simply a stack of paper. I know that is somewhat awkward phrasing but I hope it makes sense. I'm not sure how to more easily express it. I would continue to scan the documents the same way I currently am since not everyone has a printer that can duplex. This would just give you another way to print the document. This wouldn't add much time to the process I am already doing. In fact it would be quite quick and easy since I can just stack the pages in the document feeder and walk away. What I am doing now is completely manual which takes a great deal of time. I definitely don't begrudge the time since I'm trying to do something that anyone can print regardless of the type of printer they have. So the short form of the question is whether to continue doing only what I'm doing now or to also scan the pages the same way as the original is as well? |

Hey P,
I think most of today's users would open these files on a computer or tablet, so the original format would make sense. Should some of us choose to print them, doing it like the original format was, even if the printer cannot print double-sided, could be easily achieved by printing the odd pages first, re-inserting on the cartridge in the correct orientation etc. No need to do it manually. But that's just me... muadib Amiga Raytracing Society |

Ok, I discovered a reason to NOT scan the other way. I won't be able to make the PDFs searchable. The software I'm using to index the files will only work if the text is within a couple of degrees of the right way around. That is why I've been going through and manually deskewing the pages - so the indexing will work.
So I guess that makes the decision for me You know, going through all this stuff has been an interesting trip down memory lane. Seeing the price tags has been a bit of a surprise. I know that my memory is failing but I really don't remember spending so much money on this stuff. Remember when we used to pay a couple hundred dollars for a few pieces of clip art? I'm embarrassed to say that I had to do that. I can edit video and model pretty well but I can't draw better than a kindergartener to save my life That's why we eventually ended up with artists and graphic designers on staff. Before that, God help the client who needed something that wasn't in clip art Does anyone else have interesting memories from back in the day? |
