question about members' numbers

every user is identified by the chronological number of his registration.
so, for instance, RCK is u=1 and mine is u=1269. you can check yours by clicking on your nickname in a thread.

if you check in the main page of the board you can see the last person who has registered.
currently the last person is u=9878
but why then we have, read it a line above that, only 2204 members of whych active are only 898? what those discrepancies means? do we have had actually more tha 7000 bans???

Members are deleted if the dont post, so think that's why the numbers are different

but it's a huge number! what do we have done so wrong that so many people were scared to stay?? Fred?
seriously, i thought that the pruning wasn't automatic, and RCK did that manually and not often... just that

Presumably some of them are indeed spam bots, and people whose accounts have been deleted etc. I'd imagine if you entered a random member number into your browser and it doesn't seem to exist then it's a deleted/banned account.

atm 8 page (x 50) and 3 members = 403 members all joined within the last 6 month have 0 post, and I think you need at least 10 post and have made them within the last 6 month to survive the board

EDIT: link = http://eab.abime.net/memberlist.php?...t=posts&page=9
