Genetic Species: no weapon displayed in RTG mode?
Can't remember if this has been already discussed here, but in brief I noticed GS weapon in RTG 24 bit mode (Picasso 96 on WinUAE) does not display current weapon unfortunately, except that in a brief moment when you pause the game, which is strange... At first I thought it might have been a non-AGA misfeature but then I noticed weapon does appear on pause so it seems a bug, not a technical limitation in 24 bit mode.
1. During play: and... 2. When you press Pause, for a brief moment before the menu fades in you can actually see the weapon: In game option to enable weapon on screen of course is ON. AGA mode will always show current weapon as expected. Game is up-to-date to latest patch. Last edited by hexaae; 13 August 2021 at 16:36. |

No idea why it doesn't display properly on your setup. If you want, I'll privately share WinUAE install where it's showing in RTG.

is it possible to run the game in 640x480? I am using RTG, but in the game itself it'll only go up to 320x240
|

I think the game had some oddities. Like you need CybergraphX for 640x480, but 24bit requires Picasso96.
However it is best to play in P96 24bit even with the missing weapon with a double scanned 320x256 screenmode. 640x480 option just makes the game work harder/slower as it upscales and filters the game to double res. If someone would release an unofficial patch at least... At this point I think is just a small bug assuming Weapon on screen: ON/OFF = always OFF ( =0, never switching to 1 maybe ?) in 24bit RTG mode.
Possibly is very easy to fix using WinUAE and disassembling/monitoring code execution, but I'm not a coder... |

No it doesn't work in 24bit RTG. Weapons in-game will be displayed only in 8bit (RTG) or AGA modes. At least not in Picasso96 24bit RTG mode (didn't test CGX).
The strange thing is that weapons do appear in 24bit RTG P96 when in pause for a brief moment (pressing ESC)... Last edited by hexaae; 14 August 2021 at 01:12. |

Yes we have already discussed this too, if I remember correctly only the solution for the 24Bit working was the "PiP" Window mode, this is the link of the discussion:
