@Jope
a good find with the aminet Svideo Hack sir . i managed to find this too, but i believe for most that a lot of SMD based butchering of thier A600 / A1200 or CD32 I will prolly attempt this with a step by step guid as I believe its simple to do but it is just a complex to take-in from the write up... I rekon it needs more pics... @Angus "Ahhh.... another customer..... stay awhile..... staayy....Foreverrrrr" I have enough component to build 2 internal and 2 deluxe external units with 15Khz VGA out as well... the external units have already been ear marked as has both of the internal units... but I am counting chickes atm... as i am yet to build them.. (i doubt there will be any probs though..) we shall see, I will prolly contact Narmi for a few more component at the end of the month may take some orders |

Can you get the parts in the UK at a resonable price?
I think a run of these may be in order, you could eBay the rest I am sure they would sell. |

I think if was gonna build to put on ebay, i would only do the external ones (internal ones by request maybe as these require a little know how to install)
The trcky thing is finding a reliable source for the AD724JR (Z) device and the 4.43 mhz crystal seem for a land that invented PAL distinctly devoid of oscilators for it maybe its because they export so many out !? LOL |

I think the H & V syncs need to be buffered before they go to the VGA port. I don't know why, but C= did do so in their adapters (schematic). It's probably used to make the signals strong enough for VGA monitors, but it could have also been done to place a load on the signals that is higher than what a VGA monitor would place (I doubt it though).
You might also want to change the size of the crystal if you haven't already, now that you have the part in hand to measure. I think it should be half the width of what I put in my orignal layout. Eagle should let you change the package for that part to a smaller size. |

@Narmi
I honestly dont know what i would do with out you LOL!!!! i fear you might dread login on to EAB in fear of what i have done next LOL.. I did change the oscilator over to a smaller one, it seems the right size we shall see... (decorating is almost complete!) I have become a little more fluent arround the issues with eagle, one being the limmited workspace to put components down.. OH and the exceptionaly prohibitive cost of buying a decent version! bah... i will muddle through... or write my own software LOL. its interesting what CBM decided to put a load on the H/V lines... its not much to add... i will put it in there anyway... io think i have a few old 74LS08N's floating arround somewhere... |

hello,
I'm interested for an external PAL one. As the project move since the beginning, It's a PAL 23 pins to svideo+svga output. -svideo+svga running together ???? -external power supply ??? -Hot when using ??? -Security for the amiga in case this hardware become defective in the futur??? -..... I also would like to know technical informations (because just curious) if there is PAL screen refresh, switch speed with differents PAL screenmode, could be use with a DCE SD/FF,.... Just think enough for this project before making the hardware for having a verry well and usefull result :-) |

Hi Zetr0,
I'm new here, revisiting the Amiga scene with my long neglected A500 now that I've retired. I'm very interested in what you youngsters are up to, and if (as it seems) you are pulling together kits for this project I have my hand up - count me in, please! Genghiz PS Has anyone put thought to utilising a PC as a Peripheral Controller for the Amiga (isn't that what PC stands for anyway?)? |

@Genghiz
Hello there, Welcome to the EAB, I am sure you will like it here . theres lots of things to do and take part in, its a great community here! Well I am just sourcing out whom wants what LOL... After this weeked (just finnishing up daughters bedroom decorating) then I will be building some units. ... i have sorly missed my soldering irons this last week. The kits i got from the eminent hardware hero Narmi , i will be building and passing on at cost simple DIY kits could be sent on at cost... I am in contact with a PCB fabbing company in China so if i decide to go and build a load of internal / external devices i will prolly get a load of boards from there. (from my discussions it would add about £2 to the total kits cost...... but we shall see... ) Its great to have you on board |

Hello there my friend, the SVideo unit wont get hot, maybe mildly or slightly warm... but ... far FAR from hot. I think i may of confused some by adding an SVGA / HD15 plug to the unit, please note that this is just a vga signal at 15khz, this device will not scan-double or fix any flickers, if you have a monitor that will sync as low as 15khz, then yes it will display on it. the multiple outputs should all work at the same time, that is to say you could use composite on one display / svideo on another and indeed you could also use the VGA out too.. *note this hasn`t been tested yet, there maybe signal degradation if the Svideo and Composite are used at the same time. the VGA is boosted / buffered so it should be good (i need to update the pics, the board has been designed ) [edit]: updated @Faerytale I most certainly can build you one, at the moment, I am sorting out the 4 I have, hope to get them built this week, and then I will know howmuch time they take. but these should be very cheap (as about as cheap-ish as an SCART-RGB from fleabay ) I think i will ask for a sticky to be placed in the market place. this way people can register interest in kits or internal or external units. Heat is not an issue, the maximum current draw for the AD724 is only 42mA, at 5V that's only 0.21 watts. Also, that amount of current can easily be drawn from the video port, no external power supply is necessary. @Zetro You should be able to use the s-video and composite outputs at the same time with no degradation, as they are driven seperately by the chip. |
