Popupmenu.library 10.11 (from Scalos) seems to be buggy.

On OS 3.9 I had several crashes with ReqAttack requesters recently and buggy popup-menus with DirOpus 4.17 (no menu colors). For example WinUAE was crashing immediately when I tried to get the "Version/Copyright" info from the Workbench menu and also whenever IconEdit wanted to display one of its requesters then the system failed instantly. After searching my harddisk for all new files with the latest creation dates I finally found the popupmenu.library 10.11 from Scalos 41.7 to be responsible for these crashes. Replacing it with the version 10.8.6 (Aminet) or 10.10.1 (beta) could solve all the problems. (There are also two small patches from Piru for some older bugs of these libs.)

I cant remember exactly which popupmenu.library 10.10.x was, but it caused the ContextMenus commodity to behave erraticaly. I had to go back to 10.8.6 which worked just fine.

For more details http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthre...oingbag&page=5

Check from post #65 onwards

So most likely 10.8.6 is the safest choice.

Yes indeed, version 10.10.181 is also buggy and was distributed with Scalos AFAIK.

But, 10.10.1 was the last beta version with bugfixes from the author Henrik Isaksson. Unfortunately, he didn't want to see 10.10.1 to be spread on the net. I did not try to contact him yet, but I will send you PM. Maybe he would allow you to distribute it with the BoingBags?

If PlayCD crashes, then please check the "StackSize" in Devs/DosDrivers/CD0 and set it to 8192 bytes or more.

Just checked, and yes it was version 10.10.181

I will try to contact the author, and see if he allows distribution of that 10.10.1 version.

In AmigaOS 3.9 CacheCDFS DOSDriver mountlists require at least 3000 bytes of stack according to docs. I have the default 3000 bytes and experienced no crashes yet. But if you are sure I may encounter a problem in the future with that setting, I will modify that value in the BoingBag 4 archive.

You can keep the stacksize at 3000 bytes unchanged. That should be enough.

I've just tested it with 600, 1024 and 2048. With 600 it doesn't boot at all, with 1024 it boots without a CD in the drive, but stays in a reboot loop when a CD is inserted. And with a stacksize of 2048 it seems to work stable. Scout says that the task "CD0" uses approximately 1250 bytes, but the peak value could, of course, be a little higher, and we don't know how much it was before Scout started to watch the stack usage.

The reason why I'm using 8192 bytes for the stack is that I once had some problems with the older versions of IconBeFast which needed 2048 bytes additional stack for their colormap cache. But this problem has been solved already and the latest versions of IconBeFast don't need this extra stack anymore. So, no need to worry about. 3000 should be sufficient.

Thanks, I will keep the 3K stack value untouched.

BTW thank you again for the icon.library update
