Advice required on A600 upgrade compatibility
Hi,
New to the Amiga scene after a 25 year break (was just a kid then). I have an A600 which I bought of ebay 3-4 years ago. It seemed to work at the time but crashed every now and then intermittently but was largely usable (assumed re-caps/servicing required). I also installed the a604n expansion and kickstart 3.1 ROM and this did not seem to upset things. Fast forward to about late 2018 I decided on a whim to install a Furia, 3.1.4 ROM and install the new Workbench 3.1.4 on a CF card from Amiga kit. I booted it up once to confirm it came on and left it up until present day as life got in the way. Yesterday, I decided to fire it all back up and test some games via the floppy drive. Unfortunately, I think either the Furia or the new kickstart ROM has perhaps upset things as some games that previously loaded up and at least worked for at least 30 minutes now don't work. For example, First Samurai and Mega Lo Mania and Goal! both no longer work. I see glitches in Microprose Golf and the music in 4D Sports boxing is missing instruments and skipping about all over the show. For the games that crash, they crash consistently in the same spot (different spot per game). I am loading via the floppy drive and do not have WHDLoad setup. Frontier works fine as does Theme Park etc. As an aside, the computer itself is probably not in the best condition as the MB is dusty and likely needs recapping/cleaning. Hooked up via an OSSC. Is compatibility reduced the more things we add to the Amiga? Or do we think I have a dodgy setup on my hands. Thanks for reading. Ed |

Adding the accelerator certainly would have reduced the games compatibility. I suggest removing/disabling the accelerator and trying the problematic games.
Edit: Just tried 4D Sports Boxing in FS-UAE. Worked fine on standard A1200, but the music didnt play properly with an 030 so I would suggest the replayer doesn't work properly on faster machines. Last edited by Hewitson; 08 August 2019 at 12:53. |

Cheers. I will have a go at removing the Furia this evening to see if it makes a difference.

Would a degrader help to increase the compatibility?

If you have an accelerator etc why not setup WHDload? It makes life so much easier.

Hi,
After popping off the Furia, everything has started working again glitch free. Perhaps I need to tinker with the Furiatune stuff to improve compatibility? I will certainly look to get WHDLoad setup as that was the long term plan. Thanks for suggestions peeps. Ed |
