Unlikely it needs an expanded Amiga unless it is a multi-channel music format which came post Amiga for the PC and was back ported. Something like XM or S3M?

Which music format is it?

Perhaps it is a very "non optimized" replay routine which requires large amounts of memory?

Hippoplayer includes ALL the necessary files in it's archive.

Classic case of RTFM.

Ok. So Hippo player made no difference. I have now tried the tunes in Delitracker, Eagleplayer, Hippoplayer, Protracker and Octamed 4 pro,

All Amiga game mods work and some stand alone tunes like Heatbeat's Junglestreet play fine too. Some other tunes, normally with samples in them play wrong, have missing channels or the instruments are not the same?

I loaded one into octamed so I could control the individual instruments and even though they loaded without errors they were different. For example, a drum could be a little bleep instead.

...could be lack of memory?

P.s. Maybe I need additional plugins like you suggested alexh... one of the mods did say 13ch?

Seems like you could be having some issues with your CF card.
