I have some OT questions:
Why AmiKit on amithlon is loading longer then in WinUae? How to make SimpleMail send mail? Now I get "Can't make safe connection". Thanks. |

Your problem is about setting the SMTP server. The server that you log in for sending e-mail... Most SMTP Servers use secure connection. Which is good. There are two security standards: Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Few servers use either of them. Most of them are configured to use only one of these standarts. And also most of the servers restrict connections until they receive a StartSSL or StartTSL command from client. We don't see these standarts when setting up the SMTP in e-mail clients that we use on Windows. Most of the time they only have a tickbox to activate secure connection. Because these software automatically queries the server for which security standart to use. It seems Simple Mail only supports SSL for SMTP. And it is not intelligent enough to query the server and give an appropriate error message... And the worse is that : most of the servers use only TLS in SMTP. So what do we do? Well you can wait for the developers to add TLS support to Simple Mail. Meanwhile you can use YAM... (which is much better at this...) Here are two screenshots for setting up YAM for: Hotmail (a.k.a Windows Live Mail) GMail (I belive you will use this one...) Please check out that TLSv1 is selected for SMTP in both configurations. Hope this helps... |

@Tero
Are you sure it was CentOS 3.9? I tried it and new kernel needs glibc 2.3.4. Somebody on #centos told me thant Centos-3 can't have this package. Do have link to this german board? If somebady told there that new kernel compiles on C OS so he must have it, right? Why he didn't release it then? |

but they are searching for a way to get one http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12250 some post's down he said that the 3.10 kernel compiles without changes or fixes. Second one confirmed compile within VMWare but it's all about existing kernel There is another big Amithlon thread with much more info's but it needs time to read (>1300 posts) and it's in german first post was 2006 but it's alive http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5632 @Charlie @Alpyre Great work - THX again couldn't test that much but for now it's to bad that i have to use the original Kernel from CD it's the only one that works on my 'big' machine |

For all guys not talking german than:
they said ... In case of changes do a "make clean" and to compile "make dep", "make", "make modules" This is for CentOS 3.9 and kernel 3.10 The Diff file on aminet isn't usefull for this but can help to find where the Amithlon specific changes was made |

Anyone have an e-mail address for rZool? He no longer has an account on the EAB. I'd like to dig further with regards to obtaining a copy of the unreleased Update v1.32 and the Amiga XL remover utility. Thanks! |

Hi Dale,
That's a good idea of yours to try contacting rZool with a view to getting hold of his updates, even if they are only a WIP. If nobody can supply rZool's email address (and I've just tried Googling rZool and found nothing useful), it might be worth dropping RCK a PM to see if he could forward a message on your behalf (assuming the email rZool used to register with EAB is still valid). |

Hi people,
I have gathered some CD games for Amiga. Most of them supports RTG and AHI but I still cannot play them on Amithlon. One of them says that I have no BigEndian (RGB16) Pixel Format Screen Modes... Another one requires a 15bit ScreenMode. Is there a way I can get these screen modes on Amithlon? |

Hmmm, most interesting developments - I do like netsurf & have been hoping a 68k compile would come along...
...sooo annoying that it's a RiscOS native browser but development on the primary platform has stopped and now later versions can be found for 'other' platforms. @ alpyre: How's things old chap? As a wild guess I wonder if those games were written with CyberGFX rather than P96 in mind..? Another wild guess could be I'm not sure nVidia cards support 15bit modes - I think some older GFX (Amiga-native) cards have 15bit, maybe ATi cards too. What games are you trying? Regards, |

Hi Charlie...
I'm doing nice... thanks. I was happy with my Amithlon. Now I've added a PPC A1200 to my workroom... I'm twice happy now I hope you've checked your PM too @tero & Charlie The games are: NightLong - Union City Conspiracy (the Amiga version). It wants a 640x480x15bit screenmode. Napalm Chrashes due to my screen modes are not BigEndian (RGB16) Pixel Format... |
