My YouTube Channel GONE

Hi everyone...

My YouTube channel with 1.7k videos (many amiga videos) duration of 10yrs has been terminated...

Long story short reason- due copyright material..

It's very strange because youtube verifies all my videos with no copyright material and it gets marked with a green tick before I publish to the public.

3 to 6 months later I get emails from youtube saying your videos now have copyright material?

This is where I get confused and I think youtube misleads me by saying today a video has no copyright so i procesled to publish, then in coming months yt says it has copyright and deletes my youtube account.

Not once have I forced and published anything with copyright material..

Maybe I'm missing something, or not understanding the copyright rules to its fullest...

At the moment I'm more frustrated then upset because of the unknown and confusion ..

Has anyone else faced this?

I've had Chinese copyright claims on Microsoft Clipchamp free open source backing tracks and a claim on the use of movie material for one video - But strangely only blocked in Cuba. I did years ago see copyright warnings from Youtube but haven't heard about anything as drastic as your experience from Youtube today.

I don't have a YouTube channel, but can you check the reasons for the copyright strikes (I assume that was the reason why your channel was deleted). Might be too late, but you should be able to counter a copyright claim if that was the reason.

Reason was copyright, they gave the the specific 3 videos.

I'm assuming it's related the music in them...

I have made a counter claim, but I very much doubt any resolution from it.

This process just makes me never want to go back in the uploading scene again

With no strikes? Wow that sucks. I would think Youtube are responsible as they checked then approved all uploaded videos. I've had a couple of warnings when I uploaded- (music I got from other youtubes so I thought it was OK) but youtube said they weren't considered strikes so would publish them regardless. I didn't and deleted them immediately - took out the 'offending' bit and then resent , getting approval next time.. I'd be very pissed if they did this to me. What more do they expect you to do?

@ransom.. How big was the channel in number of Subscribers? Speculating here, but Google probably don’t bother having a proper dialogue with smaller channels.
Im imaginin that up to some treshold value its lots of automation happening. Lots of bot accounts flooding youtube witth other ppls content for clicks unfortunately, so there is probably a lot of automated cleaning happening at that end of Youtube.

Sorry to hear that. It sucks to lose so much work. Hope you can appeal and get it back somehow.

Not much only about 550 subs..

But it wasn't about the subs it was mainly about everything Amiga. And all other retro and emulation games...

Hahhaha. Maybe the future of youtube will be all videos on mute lol

You can have a copyright strike a long time after uploading a video, if someone has registered their copyrighted content after you uploaded.

Just because something gets through YouTube's copyright checks at the start doesn't mean it won't fail them later on.

What kind of specific content was brought up by the copyright claim?

Example: What if you "borrowed" some video from your uncle's desk drawer and uploaded that? YT wouldn't be able to know it's (C), but some time later your uncle notices and files a (C) claim? So yeah, they can't comb everything up front..

That many of these claims are fake is another matter, though..

I do cover videos on youtube. Every videos I upload have copyright issues, but the author allows them to reuse. Sorry to read what was happened, I know how much effort you have had to put into your stuff there.

I can't recall, did any mention Yuzu? As Nintendo have been coming down on so many things recently. Games, mods, channels, emulators. Just wonder if that could be part of it?

The work we put into a channel to just have it closed would proper pee me off.

Sorry to hear that, I really liked your channel. I've heard of accounts being reinstated later so I'm hoping that happens for you.

Yep, that's Youtube :/ This is why most gaming channels just don't do music, or replace it with copyright free music.

There should be details of the name of the company making the copyright claim and the portion of the video in question

I had a copyright claim against one video I uploaded. It was a live video of inside a video games studio, a portable radio was playing in the background, barely audible. The music was audible for only a few seconds in a 4m video. It was a private video so no one could view it. Youtube removed the audio from my video completely.

This is getting so absurd I understand that you don't want your precious music 1:1 on a service for free, but this is a perfect example of overreach

there are various "copyright free" tunes that later turn copyrighted, i had some old videos i made for Robocraft in its early years that got removed/flagged for having "not then but is now" copyrighted music.
