I have the A2000 CPU slot adapter but don't use it.

Unless something has changed that I am not aware of the A2000 CPU slot adapter isn't really necessary. The V500 fits with a DKB Megachip just fine in the 68000 socket. Unless the A2000 CPU slot adapter has changed it actually is less convenient than just plugging the V500 into the 68000 slot since the HDMI cable aimed straight up and I couldn't close the case unless I found an HDMI cable with a shorter connector. The HDMI cable being under the drive/power supply rail may not be ideal for some people either but I prefer it.

The SD slot was easier to access. The biggest thing the V500 seemed a little more buggy before but I attribute that to my very tired and beaten up A2000.

Maybe it's more of a preference thing, some people want it in the proper CPU slot or there have been new developments that the unused pads on the CPU slot adapter have been populated with caps that make it run better than with the bare board.

Or if you are removing/reinstalling a lot it's easier with the CPU slot than with the 68000 socket.

Yeah, my 68k socket has seen a lot of battery damage/repair and while the system seems to be solid, I'd rather leave it be and use the CPU slot since it's there.

NovaCoder - thanks for the link, I'm aware of Kipper2k's website but haven't seen any listing or info about the adapter (apart from the the image linked above) unless I'm not seeing the obvious (wouldn't be the first time)? I had been assuming he's pretty busy distributing V600's in any case, and didn't want random emails (not that I can see an email on the website either, although there's a link to the IRC chat).

I think he'll probably add them to his online store sooner or later.

Good, tried to reach Kipper about A2000 Vampire adapter two times by e-mail without response. Hopefully he will be able to send bunch of A2000 adapters to Czech, because I know about other 5 friends who wants it too.

A CDTV it's now on the way for Canada.
Fingers crossed

It's my understanding that the Vampire A500+ does not include a CF card reader AND you cannot boot from the micro SD or a GVP SCSI controller with the Vampire board attached. Can any of you recommend the proper IDE CF card adaptor that you use with it? I'm expecting my Vampire board to arrive any day/week now and would like to prepare for it.

A $5USD CF to female IDE imported from China will do the job nicely. There are likely to be more problems with the CF card itself than the adapter.

That's great to hear. I have a good cf card I haven't touched in years. Was used on my PSP. I guess I need to find an adaptor with the correct angled connection next.

Much appreciated...

Is 44 pin correct?

Yes, 44 pin. I use an SD-CF adapter in my CF-IDE adapter. No problems whatsoever and much cheaper media.

Great idea, thanks! I've also seen cf to sata hdd adaptors. Wondering if those would work, I'm pretty sure they need external power.

Has anyone ever tried to give this a go? Using it instead of the CF card reader.

It appears as though this would allow connecting a sata HDD to the 44 pin ide port of the vampire board. My concern would be hdd power from the vampire board.

I've got one of those but I've not tried it yet, I've also an IDE44 to msata ssd adaptor which might also work pretty well.

Has anyone mounted a HDMI connector on the original A500 case? I'm looking on eBay for a cable that will plug into the Vampire with a panel mount HDMI connector on the other end, but would like to see the result if anyone has already done this.
