And for the VAT the ice cream.
You have to ask Bill how much he wants. Be prepared to hear some utopian figures

It's worth what Bill wants for it, simple as that. You don't really think that Amiga Inc. has an actual value anymore?

I think it's hard to say from a legal point of view, what IP they even own so it's very hard to evaluate their worth. If you assume that they only own the name then take into account what they owe, they can't be worth very much at all.

Here is what was acquired from Gateway:

1. All trademarks logo's etc.
2. All existing inventory of Amiga International
3. All existing licenses.
4. License to All Amiga patents (Gateway still owns the patents, but we are able to use them).
5. All web sites, and registered domain names.
6. The Amiga OS and all that is associated with the OS.
7. The Amiga operation as it exists today.
Of course I have no clue if that is true or whether they still own all that.

I personally see no real value in the brand, though I'm sure you wouldn't be able to get it cheaply regardless.

p.s. According to Alexa, amiga.com was the 650075th most popular site on the Internet in the last 7 days. For comparison, abime.net was number 154039 in the last 7 days.

I would think the name "Amiga" must be worth something still. It was a household name in the 90s and people I speak to about Amigas (who were just general users, not big fans like us) will always say "oh yeah i used to have an Amiga!" and they would always be positive about it. No one I have ever spoken to about amigas have ever said "Oh yeah i had one of those, they were a bit shit" so what im saying is. The name Amiga has a very positive background to it. Plus its a good name meaning Female Friend in spanish

So a product called Amiga whatever it may be should sell well.

Yep, but you can't really put a price tag on that

So they own the name - big deal.

I love Amiga as it was but let's face it, Amiga now is dead.

Say the word Amiga to most people under 20 nowadays and my betting is they'll say: "huh?"

Net worth of a brand that's faded into oblivion in the memories of all but those who it meant something to 20 - 25 years ago = ZERO

Erm, probably because the brand died before they were born.

Ask anyone under 20 about "Morgan" or perhaps even "Maserati" and they will go "huh?" but it doesn't stop those brands being worth millions!

In my fantasy dreamworld. "Amiga" would become the property of a joint venture between Individual Computers, Toni (WinUAE) and Amigakit with board members made up of and voted on by EAB members. Maybe then it would have some value and direction.

One can dream right?

Whoever owns the brand should do me a favour and sue this imposter. I cringe everytime I see that stupid Ape-advert and the name Amiga below it

By extension, you think that the Amiga brand is worth millions?

Something is only worth anything because people desire it, the name is something associated with that desire.

Maserati = cool sports car = desirable to people who've heard of it and know what it is / stands for.

Amiga nowadays = what exactly...?

Difficult to desire something that isn't anything anymore no matter how iconic (to some) the name used to badge it.
