2 games

There are 2 games I can't find in CAPS database, maybe they aren't dumped yet:

1) Deathbringer (by Empire, not the Cinemaware one)

2) Galactic (strange shooting game by some guru I don't remember)

They will be preserved too? What's the status on them?

What is listed is what we have preserved.
- minus games using:
- atari format tracks, a few dozen titles
- psygnosis 1.5 mfm format, 4 titles
- recently submitted dumps

So the database is 99% up to date.
Feel free to submit unlisted games including the ones you mentioned.
They will be preserved if someone submits them.

Galactic was meant to be written by Stavros Fasoulas, but he was taken to the army and his game designer/programmer career pretty much ended there to my best knowledge.
A semi-finished version of the game appeared in The One as a coverdisk.
I don't really remember whether it is the same with the unpublished Krazy Ivan or not.
Most of the fame was coming from the c64 classics he created:
- Sanxion
- Delta
- Quedex. This game is available as Mindroll on the Amiga.

Ok thanks, so I guess they haven't been dumped yet.

What about Blastar?

Blastar: no good copy is known to exist. There is a duplication bug in every disk dumped so far, where two adjacent sectors are the same, but they shouldn't be.

If someone has the master, feel free to get in contact.

Hello IFW,

Does the dump i sent to you was broken too ? Because it fully works,
i have finished it with no problems, abd it doesn't have any bugs, so
why not IPF it ?

the error of duplication doesn't crash or bug the game, huh ?

Because it is incorrect.
if it is ipfed people would assume that it is ok, and that is not true.

Is it possible that the bug was on the master too?

Has this duplication bug been found by CAPS in other totally different games? If Blastar is the only game affected maybe it was an intentional duplication...

It would be nice for sure to check the original master and solve this mystery! Do we know who owns this master?

Explain me thanks

Crack Down is available #1711... but you won't find a good disk of it otherwise, trust me on this

When you duplicate a disk first the master is being read.
If something goes wrong with the process all disks duplicated in the same run will have the same error. In theory people should watch the output to see if there was a problem with the master, but in practice...

There is no relationship whatsoever with one game having a bad duplication and another, apart from maybe the lousy operators.

There is no mystery either: it was a bad duplication run, that's it.
Duplication errors are never intentional, they are the results of poor QC and careless operators.

People who are likely to have masters of a game: the authors, the duplication firm, and the publisher.

Just out of curiosity, were any games in CAPS dumped from the masters? If so, were the masters found in the wild (eBay etc.) or donated/dumped directly by the authors?
