Wow, I did not know this.
Despite all its faults, AGA chipset had so much potential.

Sounds very interesting, would like to see any experiments you come up with. Your post #27 also, didn't know of this combination of hi-res sprites over low res. The mouse pointer I thought could be hi-res over low res?

Yes indeed, the sprite resolution is entirely independent of the screen resolution (and always has been since OCS, although OCS could only do low res sprites, high res sprites came in ECS though i think).

Napalm and Quake can use High-Res. Maybe Genetic Species, too.

I think Syndicate uses 640x200 screens, if that so is already defined as high resolution.

In Mega Bomber there is no death animation or sound so you need to check counter from time to time. If you are on invisible grid line you can not place bomb which is unusual and silly. Main hero like to stick to the walls which is bug, not a feature.

Many thanks! There is already a thread on hires games, though, and it is on the TODO list to tag all games supporting hires/hires interlace screenmodes to HOL when time/motivation permits. We did start tagging games a while back, but the list of games is far from complete - only 20 "unique" games so far (see list below or HERE for the very latest up-to-date list).

--------------------
- 'Nam 1965-1975
- A-Train
- Air Warrior
- Biing!: Sex, Intrigen Und Skalpelle
- Dark Seed OCS/ECS-CD32
- Evil's Doom
- Evil's Doom SE
- Monkey Business
- Moonbases
- Phobia
- Pinball Illusions OCS/ECS-CD32
- Pinball Prelude OCS/ECS-AGA-CD32
- Retro (PD/Coverdisk)
- Sim City 2000
- Sim Earth
- Sim Life
- Thexder
- Vital Light OCS/ECS-CD32
- WolfPac
- Wonderland: Dream The Dream...
--------------------

If you and other EAB peeps can identify further hires games that haven't been mentioned yet....it will be extremely very helpful and make the task far less taxing on me and any other HOL team members that get involved.

Hipoonios and I began compiling a list of overscan games towards the end of 2018 and managed to add a few to HOL, but he decided to take a long hiatus from the net and there's still no sign of him. Hopefully he's OK and will return to the Amiga fray in the not-too-distant future (with a few new longplays to boot)!!!

Yep I thought 1280*200 at 256 colours will take some beating on AGA!

All following games use 640*256 resolution:

Floor 13
Renegade Legion Interceptor
Spaceward Ho!
Fireteam 2200
Hannibal
Canton
Atrophy

Also according to HOL notes, Overdrive (Infacto) uses Hires in some screens, as well as HAM and EHB modes.
http://hol.abime.net/5168

Also some games have hi-res "status panels" that display stuff like score and lives, even if the actual game screen is lo-res. Agony, Apidya and Overkill use this technique.

And also intro and logo screens in many games are hi-res, even if the games are lo-res. Some Team 17 and Psygnosis games show the company logo in hi-res, and this is quite common in many other games too. For example Factor 5 logo in Turrican 3 uses 640*256 and Banshee has a 640*512 loading screen.

Also most stuff released for the later generation "Super Amigas" are often hi-res, or at least have hi-res as an option.
