Red face Printer Problems

I connect my old InkJet-Printer (TA 7xxxx) b/w-Printer to my A4000. I know, it runs under HP-Drivers, but it dont works.

I try to send my startup-sequence directly to the printer with "COPY S:Startup-Sequence TO PAR:".
But instead the Startup-Seq. it prints any Char (like TYPE COMMAND.COM on a DOSe).

The Printer works on a 286, a 120MHz PI and on the C64.
Have the Amiga a special Cable or so?

I dont think a COPY command will do it, but DO try doing this:

type s:startup-sequence >PAR:

I think that shoudl work. Anyway, if you are running OS2 or above, you have the GraphicDump program in the Commodities drawer. This will dump your WB screen to the printer. Takes a wee while to start,s o wait.

Type and copy do exactly the same in this case. The problem is PAR:. This is tha parallel port and does a raw copy of the data to the printer. If the printer does not understand Amiga ASCII it will print garbage.

You need to install a working printer driver, use the Printer prefs to set it up and then use copy s:startup-sequence to PRT: to print something.
