Amiga 1200 slow boot

I need some help from you guys. I recently bought an AT A1200 with Kick 3.1 40.068 and it takes a long time to boot. From the darkgrey/light grey screens to the disk loading screen it takes about 20 seconds. It has no harddrive. I was wondering if anyone could help plz. Thank you

The amiga is checking for the presence of hard drives and also doing some diagnostic tests!

It is perfectly normal.. If you whack in a HD the time should decrease dramatically

Still fast compared to how long it takes for my PC to boot!! I've optimised it as much as possible an' all!! Sorry for hijacking the thread but just out of curiousity, how much did you pay for your setup?

Is there no way I can reduce this delay? I've dumped my kickrom file and when I boot it on winuae there's no delay so I got a bit worried.

Brand new , I paid €170 including p&p.

It is normal with KS3.1 + no harddrive, unfortunately.

WinUAE does not have this problem because there is no emulated IDE bus (or any other hardware HD interface), harddrive emulation is AmigaOS device/filesystem level in WinUAE.

Thank to you all for your help. I guess I'll just have to buy a harddrive just to get rid of the delay.

You can build this, but you have to use a 44-pin 2.5" IDE-connector instead.

It tricks the computer into skipping the wait completely.

I can't imaging using a miggy now without a harddrive. Its great storing most amiga games on the harddrive and using WHDLOAD.
